Skins

Post by Grev »

I didnt understand the Skins tutorial, so obviously I went searching. I found a tutorial by Lordsaber on filefront.

It all started to work, but when I went to edit the lua, I got confused. Here:
"And then go were the infantry is described

Put dc: in this part. (this is for reading that there has been a modification)."
This is my script. Where do I put dc:?

Code: Select all

    SetMaxFlyHeight(30)
    SetMaxPlayerFlyHeight (30)

    SetMemoryPoolSize ("ClothData",20)
    SetMemoryPoolSize ("Combo",50) -- should be ~ 2x number of jedi classes
    SetMemoryPoolSize ("Combo::State",650)      -- should be ~12x #Combo
    SetMemoryPoolSize ("Combo::Transition",650) -- should be a bit bigger than #Combo::State
    SetMemoryPoolSize ("Combo::Condition",650) -- should be a bit bigger than #Combo::State
    SetMemoryPoolSize ("Combo::Attack",550)     -- should be ~8-12x #Combo
    SetMemoryPoolSize ("Combo::DamageSample",6000)  -- should be ~8-12x #Combo::Attack
    SetMemoryPoolSize ("Combo::Deflect",100)     -- should be ~1x #combo

Ill go see if it works
Edit: Do I have to change the name of the skin or anything on the code?
I renamed the skin as cloneremnantcommander.tga, and didnt get rid of the old clone commander skin. Anything to do?

If you rename the skin, then the model (.msh file) that you are using won't know where to find it anymore. You can either hex-edit the model (TUTORIAL) and tell it where the new skin is or just rename the skin back to its old name.

wouldnt renaming it force it to rewrite the same named skin in assets/sides?

Woah, where are you making your skins? You're not saving them in the BF2_Modtools/assets/sides/rep/msh folder, are you? You should make copies of all of the folders that you want to make changes to and put them in BF2_Modtools/Data_ABC/sides/

If you make a copy of the folder out of the assets folder, then you won't have to worry about changing the original assets. Plus, your map won't find the new skins and such unless they're in Data_ABC/sides/
