Age of Empires Online
Just announced and you can sign up for the beta. I love AoEII and enjoyed AoEIII and I've been waiting for a new AoE for a while and looks like my wait is now excited.

Re: Age of Empires Online
Age of Empires is a great game, but truth be told I'm not exactly thrilled about having to constantly go online to play it; multiplayer has never interested me in the slightest. And I hate to be a downer, but the graphics looks a little bit too absurd; it actually makes Wind Waker look realistic, to be brutally honest.Moving_Target wrote:Just announced and you can sign up for the beta. But if there is a single-player mode, I hope they make the difficulty more balanced; in AoE 3, the AI is too hard for me on moderate, but is criminally easy on Easy; since there's no in-between, I have absolutely no idea how to improve.

I think it looks cool, although I'm a little curious about the persistent world thing, and how that will work. I guess we'll see. Personally, I don't mind the graphics.

Looking at it again, it probably doesn't seem too bad. I may get it, but since I've never been a MP fan, I'm still unsure if it's worth it.

Re: Age of Empires Online
Huh, interesting. AoE has always been my favorite RTS series, so this is great to see a new one, even if it's entirely online. I'm still waiting for the other two that were advertised in some magazine a few years ago, though.

Talking about the WWII AoE and the future one?
In the FAQ they talk about singleplayer.

Looks to me like another once great series has been butchered.

Rogan?
I dunno, it looks quite cartoony and blocky. Yeah it'll be small on yer screen so you won't notice, but take the warhammer games for instance, I would like the graphics to be more like that
Guess it's aimed at a younger audience....

Speaking of AoE, I reinstalled number two onto my comp. Thing is, since AoE 2 is a bit old, the ground has all these red dots on it and the water looks purple. It made me feel like I was on acid, TBH.

Re: Age of Empires Online
The cartoony models and textures kind of remind me of the old settlers games. I'm not really sure why they chose the cartoony styled models, as all the other AOE games have aimed for a more realistic appearance. I doubt I'll bother with this, as i've never played multiplayer AOE in my life, and am happy to keep it that way. AOE has always been a singleplayer game IMO.

Re: Age of Empires Online
Wrong. AoE is best played, and has always been best played, with friends on a local network. Most games are the same, actually.

That's your opinion. I personally do no other mode besides single-player.GangsterJawa wrote:Wrong. AoE is best played, and has always been best played, with friends on a local network. Most games are the same, actually.

Actually i do kind of agree with you, gangsterjawa, as LAN games at school and home are awesome fun with friends, but I've never played online/on the internet.

Re: Age of Empires Online
You guys are able to play with friends over LAN? I'm the only person in my sparsely populated area that seems into strategy games. Everyone else seems to only care about Halo or Call of Duty. Annoys me to no end, though at the same time, I'm okay with it; I've never really been a people person, which is why I guess I have a general....distaste for multiplayer.lucasfart wrote:Actually i do kind of agree with you, gangsterjawa, as LAN games at school and home are awesome fun with friends, but I've never played online/on the internet.

Haha, yeah... We have 2 (3 counting my brother's laptop) computers in my home, so whenever I have a friend over we do LAN stuff.Ping wrote:You guys are able to play with friends over LAN? Re: Age of Empires Online
That's sucks. I have like 7 friends who love RTSs and AoE. We lan AoEII whenever we can.
