Zeroeditor crashing? [Solved]

Post by jedimoose32 »

Okay, enough is enough.
My zeroeditor is perfectly fine for space maps or anything without terrain, but whenever I add terrain to my map or try to edit a map that has terrain, the program always crashes. Not right away, but if I zoom out or change the camera angle too much the terrain starts to flicker randomly in certain places. Then, after a while, it just crashes. The window goes black and then it just...I can't take it any more!!

Okay, here's my system stats:
Hidden/Spoiler:
AMD Processor, 1.8 MHz
256 mb ATI Radeon GPU with Omega drivers that boost it to 512 mb
a fairly new Compaq LCD monitor
a mouse (duh!)
a keyboard (no! really?)
a good MSI motherboard (a K with lots of numbers following)
And Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack 2
So...any suggestions?

EDIT: The Omega drivers mentioned above are third-party, but they are stable and have worked for me in the past year or so. Look 'em up if you want.

If the second thing said is memory, then even with 516 you'll get a lot of errors. Even mine goes black and I have a gig of Ram. When it goes black, try clicking up in the upper left corner where the Save is to save your work, then just restart it.
To sorta fix it, try decreasing you view distance. (upper right corner)

Yeah I only have 512 RAM so that's why it crashes I bet.
Thanks for the tip. I'll try that.

EDIT: I do that save thing too but the consistency of the crashing is driving me :runaway: insane!! And I'll never get my maps done if I don't get a little time to work. When I say it crashes, I mean like every two minutes or so, five if I'm lucky.

Close all other programs to get max RAM.

Yep. That solved the problem. It did crash once though...
Oh wait that was because I actually set view distance to 1100 rather than 100.
100 works perfectly for me btw. Thanks for the assist, fingerfood!
