2 - Naboo: Diversion Final_v5

Post by PvtParts »

[Preface] Chapter I: Part II
Naboo: Diversion

The Gungan Grand Army has risen from the swamps in attempt to threaten Trade Federation control of Naboo, possibly aiming to recapture the capital city of Theed. Crush them, immediately.

--

Okay, heres Naboo: Diversion. Naboo: Conquest being the first, this is the second in my series. Some of you have seen this before, though I can assure you this versions layout is somewhat different then the early betas (had to cut/rearrange somethings for performance).

Its a pretty straightforward battle, the cis starting atop a hill, with a large gungan force before them. Cap the gungan frontlines, and move into the gungan hiding grounds. You can approach their main base from 3 directions, each of which has its advantages and disadvantages. For instance, if you choose to go around the hiding grounds, moving to the left, you will hit heavy resistance in the gungan ruins cp. However, if you manage to cap this cp, it leaves their inner base completly open in vulnerable (but capping it alone is no easy task).

Don't underestimate the gungans, though alone they're pretty much worthless, they do a good job of defending their sacred grounds (watch out for their boomas).

As before, Rekubot has really helped me out immensly with the map, so special thanks to him.

Elmo: yeah I used a few naboo props. Make sure you have the proper textures, and you might as well copy the entire yav effects folder from assets into your world folder, because the waterfall needs a few effects (for the water and the foam at the bottom)

Blueline: If you need the Fambaa Shield I can send you the odfs. But like everything else mine are a bit different (their scaled up to meet movie size...they might be too large for a smaller map). However, if you simply compare the odfs you can see what I had to change.

Arc9: I'm downloading it of that link now - error must be specific to some people. If you find me an alternate site I'll host it there for you.

Thats what I´m talking about :D d/ling now :D

EDIT: 0.5 KB/sec; I think I'll download it later ;)
EDIT2: Nvm I restarted the download and it's better now
EDIT3: I love those gungan names! :D good job Parts, everything seems movie accurate to me :P
But when I play as the gungan with the electrostaff or the one with the shield, sometimes they just... won't do anything anymore. One moment they work like a charm and the other moment they can only walk, not jump not attack not throw and not run. I have know idea why and when this happens though.

@Emperor: That's when you do a jumping/running attack with the weapon. I'm not sure if anyone's figured out how to fix it yet. For the meantime, just roll and every move will come back.

Awesome work as always PvtParts.

Alright, I'll try Rapidshare.

And yeah the thing with the gungans...its a comboo issue I believe. I get 2 severity 3 errors pertaining to a missing stance, but I am clueless when it comes to combos, especially since I didn't make the gungan ones. If anyone wants to take a look at em then by all means let me know.

Few ideas:

May you add heroes?

OOM-9
E5 blaster
SE14R award pistol
Thermal dets
Orbital strike (by Penguin)

and

Jar Jar Binks
5 x damage boomas
vibrosword (?)
Defence (rally)

cool idea, maybe u can make little more gungans too, coz uonly can play one at the beginning, the rest is pointunlockable, and te map lags really, can you fix that in some kind of way? still wicked map

About the heroes and such, I had considered it, but I'm going with it is assumed that 00M-9 is any one of the 8 (i think thats how many) command droids on the field. And Same with jar jar and all the other important gungan characters.

And as for adding more gungans, I've considered, but theres already 290 units on the field. The max is 300 per team but I don't like to use that many because ive found it makes your map rather unstable.

As for the lag, I can tell you right now the biggest cause of that is foliage, which is something that I won't be removing. I can try to cut out the unneeded areas, but I had already done that (so basically theres not much to cut).

However, if you turn your lod and view distance settings down ever so slightly it can greatly improve gameplay with little to no visible impact on the game.

Again, I think having a good computer hurts me, because its hard for me to judge lag and such when I don't experience problems that others may. Perhaps not the majority, but certainly a considerable number of gametoast(ers), dont own a good system when it comes to gaming.

Anyhow yeah I'm not going to add jar jar and 00M. I considered but I dont think I will. As for the orbital strike for command droids, I'm unsure. Right now I'm happy with not giving the command droids orbital strike under the thought that they were controlled by a central droid computer, indirectly through the nemoidian commanders. So, if the guys up in the space station wanted an orbital strike, they would do that themselves, not make the droid do it...then do it themselves.

However, after the Naboo era battles, when droids were more individual, I may consider giving the droids orbital strike. However, if I decide to do this...the freedom to commence an orbital strike will depend on one factor - did they have a fleet above the planet at that time. So at the battle of Geonosis, the orbital strike capability would be restricted to the Republic (the only separatist ships present were either engaged in space or trying to escape - neither situation allowing time to 'orbital strike' at request).
