Post by HHH »

Hello everyone!

I tried to find it with search and searched it in the FAQ's but I did not find it (maybe because it could be obvious :) ) :

HOW DO YOU MAKE WALLS AND BUILDINGS IN YOUR MAP?

Thanks by advance!

If you have downloaded the modtools, look in the documentation folder for the getting started guide. It will tell you almost everything you need to know (well, maybe not). But it will tell you how to place buildings from other worlds into your own.

So you can't create your own ones?

You can create your own ones, however, you would have to model them using software such as Softimage. However, usually the buildings from other worlds suffice, and some really great maps have been created using them. And that's not saying you can't tamper with them. You can modify their textures using software such as Adobe Photoshop or Paintshop Pro. Or, if you are looking for a free alternative, try the GIMP.

Have you gone into zeroedit yet?

Go into the assets folder and copy the MSH, ODF, and TGAs for the things you want in your map. e.g. BF2MODTOOLS/Assets/Worlds/COR/(MSH or ODF)
Put them in your worlds MSH and ODF folder. e.g.BF2ModTools/data_ABC/Worlds/ABC/(MSH or ODF)

Go into ZeroEdit, object tab on the left there is a text box click "browse" next to it and go to where you put the objects. click open then the "place" button and put Objects where desired.

Save ZeroEdit

Go to data_(yourmap)/_BUILD/Modtolls VisualMunge, Munge your level and your done!

For further help check the documentation 1st.

EDIT: Oh great! I type instructions and someone else beat me to it. :x

Softimage| XSI to be exact, Softimage isn't a program.

You can download the FREE XSI ModTool 4.2 to see if your any good at it. If you want to get your models ingame youll have to buy a full version or get someone to export for you.
