Loosely based on the "Clone Wars" cartoon episodes 20 and 21...

HYPORI: LAST STAND!!!
(My first attempt at making a map.)

Yes, I am also "Relyt Tsueg" on the LucasForums, where I started my search for knowledge for this map.

Synopsis: A battalion of clone troopers in escort carriers on the edge of the main invasion fleet is able to survive a crash landing after encountering a field of mines surrounding the planet (which the larger Republic Cruisers couldn't dodge). While the immense army of Super Battle Droids under General Grievous surrounds a Republic Cruiser with some surviving Jedi (as seen in Clone Wars 20), the clone troopers on the outskirts of the crash site have been able to fortify their position in advance of the coming onslaught. It is only a matter of time before OOM-9 leads his (or its-not quite sure on that :wink: ) army on the surrounded, but intrenched clone forces.

Map Features: Central command post with trenches and turret placements for Republic. Four surrounding CPs for CIS.
CW only map.
CIS limited to SBDs, but the ratio is 20/12 in their favor.
REP loses the Jet Trooper, but gains the medic (same EMP-launcher, also carries health dispenser, grenades). Engineer replaces pilot and carries grenades instead of dispenser (You'll need grenades against the SBD hordes)!
Otherwise flat desert terrain is littered with smoldering wreckage (re-textured to look Republic).
Only vehicle on map is a Spider Walker for the CIS.
Crashed Republic Cruisers are visible in the distance.
All republic units retextured to look weathered... singed.
Indeed two new heroes: General Relyt Tsueg and OOM-9

I am having problems with a few things...

Unit skins: I have edited them, but in the game the units I modded show up solid black. Weapons are how I changed them, though, and I was able to edit the names of the units. Does this have something to do with this hex thing I have seen floating around (and often referred to as if it is in a museum of ancient history :wink: )?

I am having trouble getting a Spider Walker to spawn. I have gotten a Snowspeeder to spawn on another map (FEST: REBEL STRIKE, coming after this map... you heard it here first!), but I wasn't sure what to put instead of CP1_flyer (CP1_walker?) and for the other adjustments.

Those are the main issues right now. Help please! :3dcp: Oh my!

good luck on the map. someone reskinned a clone transport to look like the one in those episodes, mabey you can use it

THE SOLID BLACK PROBLEM: I don't know what it is, but it's looks as if it's the same as what happened to bandu's arc-170. Maybe you could try turning your texture quality(in battlefront, but the option is only available at the main menu, not while in a map) to low.

I think that's a problem with not allocating memory, but I can't be sure.

Hmm... is there a picture or file that I could download for that? That might look neat as a crashed prop in the center of the fortifications.

I will try that... but why would a higher texture quality not allow the .tga to be displayed on the model? NOTE: I have been able to change the texture, but only if I refer to a shipped one. Ones I edit and put in the Sides folder don't show up.

Well, I wouldn't be surprised. I am not running Battlefront on the highest end computer out there... (it is on lowest settings, but at least it works! :P ).

Oh, and if you have any recommendations, please post them here...

This is insane. I start a Hypori map and 2 other ppl pop up saying their doing one. But yours already looks better than mine so i'll let u do yours.

Very nice work im sure it'll be exciting.

Just 1 suggestion. For Hero's maybe add the 2 jedi that were there? I never saw episode 20 so i don't know that much about it but maybe by chance they were out there?

The point is that the clone forces are stuck on Hypori... the only running vehicle on the map will be the CIS spider walker. Where would I find that transport file?

Also: The first picture is up!

Thanks! This is my first attempt at mapping ( :roll: I think I am saying that too much), so the compliment is very encouraging! :D

Well, about the Jedi heroes-
There where like 7 Jedi that survived that are seen in the cartoon. According to all "official" sources, all clone troopers died either when the invasion fleet hit the mines or when they crashing into the planet. My map is sort of a side story to that... it takes place while General Grievous is dealing with those surviving Jedi. You will be able to see the Republic Cruisers crashed in the distance, but this last stand occurres on the outskirts of the crash site. General Relyt Tsueg is a lesser Jedi general... that I made up. :wink:

Oh! I see now... "Rori: Last Stand," I didn't notice that map until today, as I was browsing the forums...

I have actually been working on this map over in Lucas Forums, until I saw the knowledgeable base of people here at Gametoast (Leviathan helped me a lot to get me on my modding feet). The only maps I really ever encountered were finished ones... so if I stole your idea, it was purely by coincidence--but the name stays!

As for "out of the blue," I got Star Wars Battlefront only a few months ago.

I figured out how to get the .tga's I edited to work on my units, so here is a teaser screen!

The weapons arrangement seen on that image isn't final... the pilot will be replaced by an engineer... and I am redoing the textures for all units, so they look real good. The one seen on the medic was a test.

I am also starting work on the two heroes, OOM-9 and Relyt Tsueg. Anybody have any pointers reguarding heroes, or anything else they want to see in the map?

Well... none of the units will necessarily be "new." Units are just retextured and given different combinations of weapons.

Release date? A month, maybe... not really sure, with school and all. And I plan on releasing a beta first... but its not like I can look at how long it took on my last map and give you an estimate. I didn't have a last map, if you get my drift. :roll:
