Today we finally upgraded from dial-up. It's so much faster. Needless to say I'm in 7th heaven.
By doing the speed test at Speakeasy.com, before and after the upgrade, I was able to see just how much faster it really is.

Here are my 56k dial-up results:
Download Speed: 39 kbps (5.2 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 223 kbps (28 KB/sec transfer rate) (I was a little shocked to see that my upload had a better speed than my download.)


My smoking 1.5Mbps connection results:
Download Speed: 1610 kbps (201.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 848 kbps (106 KB/sec transfer rate)

I might actually be able to play some games online now!

So, what results do you guys get from the test?

Download Speed: 10733 kbps (1341.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 1650 kbps (206.3 KB/sec transfer rate)

Download Speed: 6093 kbps (761.6 KB/sec transfer rate) <- NEVER went that fast
Upload Speed: 1043 kbps (130.4 KB/sec transfer rate)

Download Speed: 733 kbps (91.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 138 kbps (17.3 KB/sec transfer rate)

Download Speed: 15803 kbps. no joke. seriously that fast.
Upload: 1595 kbps

this server = 100mbps. up & down on 9 oc48s from level 3 and verizon as well as 7 other major backbones.

My igloo = 7mb down

at&t dsl

Download Speed: 584 kbps
Upload Speed: 284 kbps

NOTE: This is on a wireless internet connection from a router that's like 5 years old at least, and is going through 3 or 4 walls to get to my low memory laptop. Well, only like 1 GB of memory, but still.

You guys are so lucky... When I'm downloading something, it's like 69 KB/sec. It takes hours...

Considering I leave my computer on like 24/7 though means I can download stuff practically anytime I want.

(I'll retest when I move to Cambridge (UK) though. The 20meg DSL there costs less than my 1.5meg here.. )

Recently, I upgraded to this accelerator that allows me to SURF the internet up to 5 times faster. Notice that 'surf' is bolded and capitalized all letters:

Download Speed: 1071 kbps (133.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 1218 kbps (152.3 KB/sec transfer rate)

The only reason why it is even faster (not really) is because images aren't loaded at full quality. You can even set your speed too, the faster the speed, the blurrier the images. Looking through this thread makes me wish I had high speed internet. It takes me about at least 4 minutes to download a 1 MB file.

I haven't noticed anything and neither has AVG or Windows Defender...

Besides that thing is one of those obnoctious demos that will show you the doom hidden in your HD, but won't remove it.
