A weapon that can turn a unit into an ordnance...possible?

i was just modding and made a weapon that is an ultra lightning attack for dark siders and it hits a unit and then my custom lightning ball effect plays on them and they fly up in the air then fall back down with the effect still playing. it inspired me to ask this: "Is is possible to make a weapon that can hit a person and then turn that person into an ordanence?"

anyone ever try this?

On topic: Generally when something begins with "is this possible" the answer is either no or yes but it's very difficult/not worth it. In this case you want to turn a unit into ordance; turning anything into anything else is difficult and usually impossible.

It's best to become more acquainted with the workings of the mod tools and what is as well as what isn't feasable, then outline a general theory as to how something might be accomplished and post asking "would this work?"

if only this was possible... like an ordanence that hits a unit and then it vaporises that unit and when it hits the unit the ord changes shape into a unit which then can hit other things... but i guess an ordanence that changes shape in ways like that would be impossible... or is it

Did you ever try right-clicking on the images? :P

The shooting in the air thing and back down is probably not possible, but you could make the weapon have a high push value, like that of some modders' grenades. :shock:

well i already got my weapon that pulls units into the air and then drops them. i just changed force lightning's push value from 0 to -100 and gave the explosion a value of 100 and it makes the units fly up and then come to you.

no i said i wanted the ordance to turn into the shape of a unit not the other way around.

oh wait did u mean the units in the air... well i had a lightning storm effect around them and wanted them to fall down as like a shell and land in a giant emp explosion and kill anything near it...

Even with my limited lua scripting knowledge I know its impossible. I tried thinking of a way to do it with a matrix, but I cant think of what to spawn?Image

You could spawn a self-destructing turret.

But with that the idea passes into the realm of "not feasable" from the land of "not possible."

Okay, here goes:
--First make a force weapon with a primary and secondary ordnances that fire simultaneously.
--Set the first ordinance as an invisible mortar shell grenade with your force-energy lightning ball effect as it's trail effect and make it so that it explodes on impact (like the mortar) set the push radius to be tiny but the push to be HUGE.
--Then make another invisible grenade, this one with no effect. Have it be the same physics as the first one BUT make it stick to it's target, and not detonate for about five seconds, then give it a regular explosion.

THAT'S IT!!! the end product should make it look like this:
you fire at a guy, then it hits him, he flies backward, and when he hits someone else, he explodes (take out the explosion fx and sounds if you want it to look like he slammed into someone.).
This should work quite well. I did something like this a while ago so it should work :)

I might try this out and get a video up pretty soon, maybe.

You could use DisintegrateEnemies (or whichever line the Bothan Incinerator uses) to make the second explosion disintegrate the explodee.

That line only works on emitter ordnance. And its SmolderVanishDeath = "1"

And if you miss the secondary ordance will still explode, where ever it happens to be.

I don't intend to be such an excessive naysayer. I'll happily believe it when I see it; seeing it is the only catch.

Which is why I didn't mention that idea, because it would always explode, unit or no unit.

Well wait, what if it was that the explosion was invisible too? Then you wouldn't really notice when you missed. You could make it where it was invisible and only did damage to vehicles that way you would only notice when you hit a vehicle! And make it so it only sticks to people so it would be like a "Force Anti-Armour Push" :P

or you could just get the force lightning, give it a push or pull (depending on what u want) then have a second ordanace that is an invisable grenade and then have that with the timer like the post above says and then you would have the disintergrate.


my other idea was haveing the force lightning (mentioned above) and having it disintergrate the person on contact and then having a second ord that has the msh of a person and having that with a big shot elevate and it being a shell and having it crash into other people.

and i noticed in my other mod that when u have a nade on someone and that person disappears the nade seems to do the same thing and just go underground and lose all colision. so i think the second idea i have may look weird but it may or may not work. lets just hope that the nade doesn't disapper like my other one did >.>

I thought the point was to have the grenade damage units so that one unit would fly into another and hurt him. If you're just trying to get a force push that will knock one unit into another and push them both over, it's far simpler to just have a force push that pushes everything over in a certain ray - which is what the stock force push already does.

Whatever the nade does after it hits someone, what it does before will be even wierder. You'll have a full-size unit locked in the stock T-pose fly out of your head and travel, rigidly, through the air.
