If you dont believe me play them both urself, you'll also be surprised how much the game we play has changed from the released trailor, eg Theed.

We have betrayed by the trailor for bfII
At rewatching the Starwars bf I trailor, I noticed a familiar scene from the bf II trailor. I kid you not, this image shows a bfII trailor screen and the bfI trailor in the small window. I bet they thought they could pass it off as new material, afraid not mr lucas, we're cleverer than that. So whos to say that alot of other material in the trailor is fake and stolen from footage they took for the first version?

Didn't you know that all the original maps will be returning? I guess they stuck that in the trailer as a reminder.

Jeez! you'd have thought they'd have at least have gone to the trouble of totally new screen shots etc.. for the trailor, that completely sucks, it makes you wonder what else is being regurgitated on us. I guess that it'll be much better to have more movie accurate maps etc.. including the originals (all be it updated) will make SWBF1 totally redundant, however will the updates with new mission objectives and other gameplay stuff etc... mean that current mod maps will have problems and conflicts etc... when trying to play them on SWBF2 or is this something we've got to just wait and see for, I can't imagine Lucas Arts making it backwards compatible but you never know. It'll take me a while to finish my map to a level I'm happy with but is it worth bothering with BF2 on the horizon (and then mod after we've the game and any new tools etc...)

Those were screenshots of the new Naboo:Plains, Geonosis, Endor, and Hoth. They are not screenshots from the original. Do not worry. There will be lots of levels in total. You will have your fun.
As for it being backwards compatible, I'm not sure. I don't think the objectives will bother it, as they are in the campaign. The only problem I would see would be the addition of certain gameplay modes that don't use the ticket count....But all this could be fixed if the new editor allowed you to import levels made with the original editor to it (or for that matter, be compatible with them). The only thing that I am sure you would have to change, or specify, is what mode you want it to play in.
But as for all this speculation...It has to stop. I say we just all wait until the game comes out. And therefore when you see something you like while playing, you can pee all over yourself.

I guess that'll almost certainly be the case but it's probably best to not speculate too much on what will or won't be in it because if you do too much you'll bound to be disapointed about somethings. The first disappointing thing has to be that in the UK we can't preorder our SWBF2 from star wars shop so no free tee shirt

The maps are supposedly vastly larger. The original vehicles will stay. The only differences are the new classes, objective based gameplay, new "objects" for each level, and obviously the layout of the level. So to sum it all up: They will be the levels they should have been. Take Geonosis for example. It has several hangers, spires, and caves...And all of it has been reworked. Judging upon the current screenshots, it seemed to resemble the movie. The only thing that I am nervous about is whether or not they will animate the "holomap" that was found in the spire...Every time I went in there, I couldn't stand looking at it. The ships just sat there, and after watching the movie...I don't know, it just irritated me.
But yes, Carbine, you are right. All this speculating will lead to disappointment. You will find things you don't like about the sequel. It is bound to happen, but don't let it spoil your fun before you get the game.

6. No doubt.
But the clone commander they are putting in was an idea that I had. I mean, they didn't steal it because I didn't tell anyone but OOM9, L5R, and CGartist. Me and the BF team just happened to think of the same thing. I was in the stages of making a clone commander that had a gatlin gun (chain gun) and that was dark red/purplish. I also wanted to implement dual pistols, but I don't think that is possible without it looking a bit weird...I just never finished it because I didn't have the resources.
So, I think that was really funny! How bout you guys?
Sides and New Unit:
Republic: Clone Commander (purplish with chain gun--see him in action on Gamespot at E3)
CIS: Tactical Battle Droid (standard issue battle droid that can see every enemy unit on map at all times--I heard somewhere that he has binoculars...And he may have other special equipment. He's the one that was in the battle of Naboo in Episode I. He had the binoculars and had yellow on his back)
Alliance: Bothan Spy (although, I haven't seen him--they better do a good job on him)
Empire: Imperial Officer (the one that they removed from BFI)
There you go. Note that the Bothan Spy and Tactical Droid I'm not 100% sure on.
