1. the function of the buttons can now be used by various shortcuts (look in the help for a list of them)
2. it seems that xsi wants to save your scene/ project somewhere where its notallowed to do that

2. I get this when I try to save anywhere that is not in my XSI folder. Try saving in the default place XSI comes up with when you click save.

You'll have to save it in your examples folder, I'm afraid. You can always copy it into your private folder afterwards.

In XSI create a new project, give the project a name you like, find the project folder scene folder, copy your 4.2 scn files to there. go back into xsi and open the scene from the new project folder and it should be fine.

what did you select?
you need a 3d-object, you cant apply a texture or material on curves etc.

the best for you would be to start with some basic XSI-tutorials, im shure the modtoolsite or the modtool itself offers some
