Re: Battlefront III News
The physical assets (models, textures, etc) are all owned by Lucasarts, so that's a big head start. That's why Renegade Squadron Han Solo looks 100% like Pandemic's model - it is the model Pandemic made. So luckily that helps with development time.

I just hope BF3 isn't rushed so they can do a good job on the game!

Re: Battlefront III News
Actually, I have to change my mind on that. The only game company that I wouldn't want to develop BF3 is Insomniac. I loved Ratchet and Clank, but when Resistance 2 came out, it still had the cartoonish-looking effects that R&C did. I have no beef with Insomniac, but I wouldn't want their hands on BF3. Unless they make some good quality gameplay.Null_1138 wrote:QFT.Raptor522 wrote:My general take on SWBF III is that I don't honestly care who makes it as long as it's actually good.

Um... word. My only problem with someone like that taking it on is that they've never done a game like Battlefront. The reason I specifically mentioned DICE is because of their Battlefield series, which is [better, to save me from typing out reasons], but it's also very similar. For example, Bioware makes awesome RPGs. I wouldn't want them making Battlefront 3. Insomniac's great at what it does, but it doesn't make this kinda game.

Re: Battlefront III News
My impressions from the articles was that Free Radical went under in part because Lucasarts reneged on their Battlefront 3 contract. Not the other way around.
Anyway, Pandemic has been kind to us and I would welcome them getting SWBF3. I would assume that they would be kind again.

To be honest, what much more could Pandemic put on the table? We have objective-based gameplay, hunts, assaults in BF2, and better maps in BF1. I say, Pandemic could make the story and gameplay make more sense both from a gameplay and a canon perspective. They could also include more things from other games, IE the Stormtrooper types from TFU and the Clone Trooper types from the RotS Game.

they'll probably take into some consideration of what we saw in the SWBF3 alpha video and work off that.ggctuk wrote:To be honest, what much more could Pandemic put on the table? Re: Battlefront III News
DICE is certainly building itself an impressive resume. The entire Battlefield series, Mirror's edge, [urlhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pinball_Fantasies]Pinball Fantasies...[/url] well maybe not that last one. It also occurs to me that the name of the next game might be heavily dependent on who gets it.Raptor522 wrote:To be honest, and this is my opinion, I think it'd be cool if DICE picked it up. Bad Company was a great direction for the Battlefield series to go, and a similar direction would probably make the first great SWBF game. I've had many, many epic battles in Bad Company with the max 24 in the game, imagine what they could do with a large scale Star Wars game? They've proven they can handle this kind of game. But that's me daydreaming.
Crytek: Star Wars Battlecry.
DICE: Star Wars Battlefield.
Ubisoft: Tom Clancy's Star Wars Battlefront III.
Valve: Star Wars Battlefront III, Episode 1.

You know, if it turned out Bungie was making Battlefront III as one of their secret projects, I would probably die in an explosion of confetti and pure joy.
I might just check out that BF Mobile thing, I loved BFRS, so I might like that as well.

Same. Lots of people seem to hate on the game, but I actually quite enjoyed it. The only visibly bad part was the graphics.Fusion wrote:You know, if it turned out Bungie was making Battlefront III as one of their secret projects, I would probably die in an explosion of confetti and pure joy.

I liked the custom class thing, but, again, only played it about 5 minutes, so I hardly got to use it. lol
My bad. I tend to lead to topics getting off track. lolNova Hawk wrote:Umm... what are we talking about?

Seconded. If Pandemic's at the helm we know that the chances of mod tools are pretty high.[RDH]Zerted wrote:Anyway, Pandemic has been kind to us and I would welcome them getting SWBF3. I would assume that they would be kind again.

rofl. Don't give them ideas now!Fluffy_the_ic wrote:Traveler's Tales: Lego Star Wars Battlefront III
Also you forgot Core Design's Star Wars: TombFront III Adventures of Darth Vader.
I think they were good, but there was too much missed with BF2. They should use BF3 to rectify that. No ships on ground levels, indeed. Also hero support should be improved, there was criticism for it if I recal, apparently "It sounded good on paper", but wasn't executed quite as well. There were parts of that statement I agree with, such as the lower number of heroes than I expected, and the combat system leaves a little to be desired (blocking should NOT drain stamina), but there were some ups. I look forward to seeing improved space combat too.Teancum wrote:Seconded. Re: Battlefront III News
Actually most of the haters were JKA players. Personally I think the heroes are much more fun to pay as in SWBF2 then jedi are in JKA. I hope whoever it is doesn't get down and rethink the entire hero system, but rather just improves on what's there. I agree with you on most other points though.

Re: Battlefront III News
This is my point exactly. I think there were flaws in the hero but they're easy enough to solve and don't really affect gameplay. My only true gripe would have been that each Jedi hero only had one combo. Something could have been done where, holding fire produced a long sweep, pressing fire has a normal combo and tapping fire quickly gives a less damaging combo, but faster (something I thought of after playing the awful TPM game adaption). And, not really enough unit selection, although that looks like it's to be solved. I mean, it would be awesome to play as a Jump Trooper, Purge Trooper or Incinerator Trooper from TFU in a Battlefront game.
