UPDATE

I wanted to talk a minute about saber combat in my TCW mod. I worked with my team to eliminate the things I didn't like about the BF2 saber combat system. The jedi only have 2 modes in the stock game, attack and defend. If you use one you cant use the other. This results is very boring saber duels, that last 4 seconds as you knock your foe down with a saber or force push, then button smash him to death, *yawn*.

In my mod, jedi can attack and defend themselves at the same time, resulting in longer duels, and more accurate gameplay.Knockdown has been removed as well.
To give you a better idea of what I am talking about, here is a Video. VIDEO
I am still working on force powers, the push is way to spammable at the moment, and the AI use it to much, I can and will fix this. Most powers are chargeable, push, pull, lightning, etc.

Jedi keep their defend mode, it is very useful against blaster fire that they will be under.
Also, I will have most combos be the same or very similar to ensure the best duels, as balance is key.

yeeeeeees!!!! that sounds great!!! i was hoping someone would do something like that! i always hated how all melee weapons had knockdown, cause in a duel, you could just be knocked down to death! great mod!!!! i really hope it will be released soon :D

That is a feature I feel should be incorporated into every great mod.

He said it'd be fixed. No worries. :P

Anyways, just saw that video.........oh em gee, awesomesauce with a baseball bat and a side order of fries and a milkshake! I wish duels were like that by default. Knockdown, while funny at times, annoyed the heck out of me in BF2. Nice work, Wulf. :)

I know about it being fixed in LPR in the 1.5 version. I downloaded the 1.5 and thought it was a drastic improvement and really enjoyed it. I was using the 1.0 as an example because I didn't want the funky leg to be in wulf's mod.

@WULF: The new lightsaber combat looks really good, can't wait to try it out myself to kill Grievous. :thumbs:

Just something to add to the combat, IT IS AMAZING. You cant even tell how great it is from the video. Ive been wanting an actual duel mode in swbf2 since forever but the only thing close was Mav with his elimination of force powers. BUT that is unnecesary in this mod because even spamming the force push wont get you far enough to kill your opponent. you MUST use at least a little bit of strategy or have a really fast clicking finger! i played the otehr day with WULF and it actually takes a considerable amount of time to kill someone. as it should.

I am going to have another beta this weekend, and The release has been pushed back to an undertirmed date as beta testing goes on.

I will fix most CTD issues, fix a few visual issues. But the big thing is improved gameplay. I think I am getting realled close with it, the CIS is fun now, I can play as them and win with plenty of reinforcements to spare. Or I can play as the Republic still killing loads of droids but struggling with the mass of droids your dealing with, the droid-clone ratio has been changed to 3-1. I also improved the CIS themselves, making it a ton easier for humans to play, but the AI still is dumber than average(This is intentional, as 2/3 of your force are B1 battle droids, they act just like in the show, they can really be idiots when fighting).

Here is a Screen of TCW style Boss, (I am making ARC troopers and Commandos random with the Clone Commanders, making it even more varied).

I am making the Commanders more of leaders, with the spawn reinforcement weapon, and a powerful rally weapon, along with binoculars and such.
ARC Troopers are not leaders in any way, they are great at the infiltration of enemy territory with a stealth weapon, they are great at eliminating heavy CIS targets, and Recon is another speciality.
Commandos are more of the Chuck Norris of clones, they specialize in eliminating a crap load of enemy forces. They are all Good rifleman, snipers, and rocketeers.

Dude, Boss is such a boss. But uh, how come you're not using the like new HD skins? Those would be really awesome to have in a mod like yours. :wink:

Those dont have my normal -detailbias line added to the .option yet so the texture is resized since I have my texture quality set at low or medium I cant remember. What new HD skins are you talking about anyway?

You wanted to know how many units we had left if we won the match with lot of reinforcements; On the Death Star, republic side I won with 172 reinforcments left.

Balance is horrid in the beta, its fixed now. and the death star HAD its old dumb reinforcements code, so its a poor judge one way or another.
