Re: WIP Improved Laat/i
no, the models will be released as a side, but some of them will come in my Geonosis Mappack
EDIT: UPDATE
i decided to make a high-rez version of the laat, it is fully optional, the normal-rez laat will be the standard version for all!
duck was almost come through xfire and kill me as some of you will too, in fact of the higher poly count, but sorry
(fun off now)
first two pics of the normal version, duck also will add my rocketlauncher thing to the normal version, so every version will have it, not only the highrez
and the high-rez version
only thing left is cutting out the black pieces on the doors for the high-rez version, i working right now on this :atatpilot:

If you're going to upres pieces of the model, why not go the whole way and add new detail to the rest (or easier, simply remodel the whole thing)? Use the old texture, but bake out some lighting from the highres and use it as a multiply layer on the texture (or just make a bumpmap out of it). Right now, the new parts are in sharp contrast with the older pieces.

Re: WIP Improved Laat/i (New update pg.3!)
ok, thx for your comment Maveritchell!
here is the result of the model, the "final" high-rez version, but final is for me a flexible term
note that there will come a HD texture, so it will get better then now
the biggest change to the las update are the cuttings in the doors and the opening under the copilot cokpit.

Wow, this puts the old stock LAAT to shame. Keep up the good work! This model will be a must-have when it's released. Are you guys still planning to keep the shoot-while-in-the-passenger-seat thing? Also, do you have to be standing while you do that, or can you be sitting down or something? Just curious.

Re: WIP Improved Laat/i (New update pg.3!)
they could also stand one one leg if we wanted
we already have oen passenger sitting down.
im not sure if one version will have the "controllable" passengers but since its basically only one line you have to add itwont be hard for you to add that.

So the hard points are already there? I don't have XSI. What would be really awesome would be if you provided us with a list of hardpoints we could use if we wanted to.

Re: WIP Improved Laat/i (New update pg.3!)
yes, you only need one hardpoint for normal or shooting passengers.
edit: after polygonreduction and rebuilding the normal model now has all the details like the highrez(rocketbay on top, missiles on wings and holes in rocketlauncherfrontpiece. it took some time to get everything seamless but i think it was worth that.

Re: WIP Improved Laat/i (New update pg.3!)
The only thing that would be the icing on the cake would be if the missile bays rotated as you fired. But I don't know if that is even possible. This really looks very impressive. What more are you going to add onto it? Are you planning too? Or do you just need to add a little elbow grease?
I apologize for asking so many questions, I'm just really excited. This model is really good.

we actually dotn plan to add any more details. the misslebay caont rotate on firing because flyer only support a takeoff animation.

Only because I know how much I love it when people tell me why I can do things that I say that I can'tDarthD.U.C.K. wrote:we actually dotn plan to add any more details. the misslebay caont rotate on firing because flyer only support a takeoff animation.
While it's true that flyers don't support any ambient animation, they do support persistent particle effects, and particle effects support mesh animation. You can use particle effects to simulate a whole host of (non-skinned) animations.

so you suggest making the rotating rockets an firingeffect? wouldnt they disappear then when the weapon isnt used anymore?

Not if you gave them unending particles with -1

Re: WIP Improved Laat/i (New update pg.3!)
Doubleteam it - you can have both a static mesh there and an effect that gives the appearance of movement. If it were mine, I might just make a perpetual (damage) effect of it always rotating and then a firing effect of the rocket coming up and out.DarthD.U.C.K. wrote:so you suggest making the rotating rockets an firingeffect? wouldnt they disappear then when the weapon isnt used anymore?

There's a wookie vehicle (2 seats) that has animated wings during the fly i wonder how he did that though.
