Re: Geonosis: Hold the Line
alright here's my feedback:
overall this mod has a strong strategical meaning, i like the name of "holding the line." however, there's a few things to be improved upon. of course this is only a first beta
first off, the file size is 304 megabytes, that seems wayyyy to large. did you copy the entire rep / cis assets? you only need the ones you used.
anyways, when i spawned at the default rep cp i noticed a glitch in the bunker. to the right you have a minor glitch easily fixed up with some terrain work. as i moved on i noticed the bunkers had no texture, just a black illusion. im not sure what went wrong there, you might have textured wrong. also, the top right command post is doubled up, so when i captured it there was a blue and red light shining. i suggest deleting or moving one. so aside from the occasional droideka-stuck-in-a-terrain, nothing else was fundamentally wrong.
now on a gameplay viewpoint, there are a couple improvements needed to be done. the map size is very small, perhaps you wanted it that way? if so, try to fit the title so the command posts are distributed that way, it didnt seem like there was any tactical placement.
the terrain is nicely painted, or formed, whatever lol. all you need to do is smoothen it out so it seems more natural and fluent.
command posts, again, are a bit too close and dont seem to take on an importance. placing command posts next to crashed ships and whatnot make it more strategic and meaningful.
also, creating more obstacles and lower spires could make use for a good sniper or jet trooper. finding a nice hiding place to kill off enemies is a plus for the player. example: top hill on the original geonosis.
lastly, original skinning is always welcome and makes the mod feel even better. if you can skin, id recommend it.
so yeah, thanks for letting me beta. with those improvements / suggestions this definitely would be a great mod.

*EDIT* whoa thats really strange, i knew you skinned...i knew it...weird how it didnt show up in my game. it might be the conversion pack or something =P

Re: Geonosis: Hold the Line
This map is going to be in my conversion pack, so there's not a big reason to waste any space creating new sides on this one. The double CP was my attempt to get Geonosians to spawn. Didn't work, even though I read the locals tutorial. Oh well, I can always mess around with that later.

You keep using that phrase, I am not sure that it means what you think it means.vegati wrote:This map is going to be in my conversion pack,
What exactly are you converting?

There's a link to what I'm talking about in my FIRST post. Didn't anybody read it?

I know exactly what you're talking about; I'm pointing out an incorrect use of terminology.vegati wrote:There's a link to what I'm talking about in my FIRST post. Didn't anybody read it?
Conversion = one game/concept being made in a different game (a la the "Conversion Pack" - SWBF1 converted to SWBF2)
Mod (or specifically sides mod) = addon content to one game. What you're doing is mostly a sides mod with some addon maps - it's not converting anything, ergo, it isn't a conversion.
It doesn't really matter what you call it; you can call it the Rocket-Powered Chutes & Ladders Conversion Ultra-Box, and that's fine. However, if you want to be the most clear, the word is "sides mod" or simply "mod."
