OK I'm going to reinstall my battlefront modding tools to see what's wrong.

For starters before I go to psychofreds tuts.
Where should I install them.

Doe's it have to be a certain directory?

You see I installed battlefront on a network drive.
And did the same with my mod tools.

Is that a problem?

Or doe's it have to be on the C drive.

thnks in advance to whoever answers.

A simple answer THANK YOU!!!!

One more thing.

For it to work doe's battlefront have to be installed on the c drive?
Or would I have to relocate that too?
Cause my c drive is out of space

Thnkas again.

"Go into the _build_pc\sides folder and you'll see a GAM folder left behind there as well as clean.bat, munge_fpm.bat, and munge_side.bat. Edit the clean file and change GAM to ALL. Next make a copy of the GAM folder and rename it ALL. Go into the ALL folder and you'll see a folder called munged as well as clean.bat and munge.bat. Edit munge.bat and replace GAM with ALL."

Ok the only part I get counfused on is this.
I don't see a folder under that name in this directory.

As in there is no folder inside the all folder.
All i see our two munge files.

Use BFBuilderPro (WIP) for a one-click solution to setting up the folders for a custom side, get it at psych0fred's board (are you using it already ? I noticed that new projects made with BFBP don't have the GAM folder in the _BUILD_PC\Sides directory)

yeah thats true saturn i noticed as well, but when i wrote that tut i did it from just the normal BFBuilder for a way to do it manually from that, even though bfbpro pretty much made most of it obselete

stell i'd take saturns advice. but if you wanna find the GAM folder thats usually in there you can find the same folder/files in C:\BFBuilder\Assets\Shipped Add On\DataTAT3\_BUILD_PC\Sides\

no the bfbuilder pro doesnt seem to have the GAM folder in the build_pc/Sides/ folder, but you can still find it in the assets.

sounds like an error i got when i tried to create a new modid in the old BFbuilder.

i think its a permissions issue. like you gotta have the tools installed to a directory that doesn't have spaces, like C:\BfBuiler\

make sure you unzip bfbuilder pro directly to yur BFBuilder folder, which should be in C:\BfBuilder\

Did you make a new project with BFBP ? If not, the permission issue means some of the folders and files are set to read only. Try right clicking on _BUILD_PC and _LVL_PC and unchecking Read Only, then try making a side again.

Post by Stellcat »

That was one of the first things I tried that but it keeps switching back to read only!!??

Oh and another thing.

Whenever I try to munge it says something like

MUNGE.bat is not an applicable program or file blah blah blah.

Doe's that have to do with the premission thing??

If so I'l get my dad to give my cpu more control :D

don't worry that the folder looks like it switches back to read only, mine does that too. If you check the files in the folders, they won't be read only

Ok I made some progress.

I managed to make a few imp_inf_LVL files.

I think that's getting somewhere.

But still not good enough.

I don't think I can use those.

Or can I????

Any suggest now that I atleast was able I make those???

well if yur getting the side file to munge i'd say thats excellent progress :D

i remember you said you were trying to edit the darktrooper. so in that case you would need to copy all the darktrooper assets to yur project folder, and modify the ones you want. you will also hav to call for yur edited darktrooper in the mission lua. then you can test yur level with the newly munged side file in sptest to see if you get any errors, and adjust accordingly.

other than that i'm not really sure, just try to be specific about what yur trying or want to do, cause otherwise we don't know what to help you with ;)

imp_inf_LVL ?

On a general note to everyone, like imp_strike said, the more detail you give about what you want to do and what you have done so far to achieve it, the easier it is for us to help you.

OK I'm trying to make a darktrooper side.
You know just change the health weapons etc.

That is exactly what I'm trying to do.

So you say I need All of his assets on the project folder huh.
Ok

And I was wondering.
Why did it munge as a darktrooper_inf_lvl file??

I thought it always munged as a IMP_lvl file.

Is tht because of the missing assets you said I need to put in.

After thinking hard.
I have come to a conclution.

I would be VERY VERY nice if one of you Modders could make a post by post guide for idiots like me.

As in First post gives first step.
Do this then this.

Second post gives second step.

Move this and this.

Like that.

Maby my tiny brain can wrap around that
