Saturn_V_SWBF and Eddie, Where Have You Gone?!?!

Post by PR-0927 »

Is anyone else wondering what has happened to Saturn_V_SWBF or Eddie? Saturn seems to make only random posts at random moments on random forums. He's not available to contact!! He's never online on MSN Messenger either.

As for Eddie, I haven't seen him post in a while. The last time I heard from him was shortly after the release of Kashyyyk: Shores (Version 2.0) in a PM.

There's almost no activity either with mods or models. I remember when Eddie pumped out maps one after another in one week. I also remember when Saturn made outrageously awesome and gunny weapons like the Melon Gun!! Or, when he'd post pictures of new things that he had tested.

Of course everyone is busy now and then, but I never hear from them two?

Does anyone agree with me about not hearing from either of them much?

C'mon Saturn and Eddie, we modders and players need you guys in town all the time!!

ROFL! i guess your not using xfire majin, i dont think ive ever been online and NOT seen them on and available. lol.
I do know for a fact that SWG is about to suck the free time life out of most of us here, SaturnV being the 1st victim , and nimlot and me to follow shortly. Interest is not lost but 1.3 patch needs to be out for the success of more map/mods and then in same time SWBF2 will be replacing ALL current mods as they will not function... I would look for a new GT1 map release in the VERY near future and then ....await the onslaught of mods for SWBF2!!!

God, I only hope that if they do release tools for BF2 that they will be coherent enough for everyone to understand, and not just the tech savvy. I really hate that I can't participate in mapping as I've seen a lot of great ideas executed poorly or unfinished.

Yeah, I barely sign on to Xfire, Guru.

;)

I hope that the maps can be ported over to SWBF 2, as I have worked hard on all of mine and I'd love to see them in SWBF 2.

Yeah, Saturn is on Xfire most of the time. As for Eddie, he comes and goes every once in a while.

Amen to that! I say let us have no more of these complicated tools -- make them user friendly so that everyone can try their hand at mapping! Like I said before, I think the tremendously high learning curve of the mod tools greatly stifles creativity, and is a hindrance even for those who have more or less figured them out.

Well, the map creation does not go as fast as it used to. Also, some other stuff is taking priority like real life. We are basicly experimenting with stuff so it will take some time for a new map. And BWs are taking a week away from modding but it is worth it to play with GT buddies and to actualy PLAY the game for a change, lol.

Oh yeah Battleweek...
Last time i saw Saturn was on Bespin in the Carbon chamber. Dunno if he jumped into freezer or into Shaft escaping from Qdin.
And Eddie was lost in Jabbas Palace. Last thing i heard was that Eddie and Tuf jumped down to the Rancor who becomes more fat after that.

Well i don´t give up on them. I´m pretty sure the guys will be back in BW8. So if you are on Bespin Tatooine or any other known location keep your eyes open and you will find them

The skills needed for modding can be learnt, as the maps that you guys have made have proved over and over again, so give yourselves a big pat on the back :D Games studios employ trained professional artists and programmers for a reason, yes ?

If you're struggling with the tools and the concepts behind them either ask here, search the forum, or consider getting a start modding with Quake, Half Life or Unreal Tournament as they have bigger mod communities and wider support for their tools (and HL and UT have working exporters for XSI ModTool).

I would have to agree with Saturn on this one, SWBF is not a drag and drop moddable game, the main reason I ever started modding the game was that I liked the challenge of no official tools, no support, no one was doing it, so i wipped out the hex editor and played around with playable jedi, the jawa camo skins and everything else, from that more people got interested and Gametoast was born , it was only after months that real modder and modellers came to the site and starting offering their more mainstream works.... Its great to see so much happening on a game i had thought un moddable 9 months ago :)

Imagine what well be making in SWBF2! More physics , more commands and way better AI!

Jumping down to to the Rancor pit was special tactics, it is just we stayed there for a while...This time to whole GT team should follow us and I am sure one of us will survive to step on mine on the way out. So, rends, do not make fun of our fine tactics, they never worked in the past and will never work in the future (hm, this came out wrong way...)
