Want to know about a game? Should we buy that new upcoming release? Post your thoughts on new games and ones you have...so others can know whether to buy it or not! All non-SWBF, non-modding topics should go here.
I knew they were holding out on us. I just hope that it still gets finished and released considering that Free Radical has tanked. We can only hope.
BTW who is Shara the bounty hunter?
@ Nova Hawk: I'm sure LA will release it on PC, if they didn't it would kill the modding community and they would lose a big fan base. In other words if they didn't, it would be financial suicide.
So did FreeRadical go kablooey from the economical crisis or something else?
But dang...Compared to the other 2 Battlefronts, Battlefront 3 looks...I dunno the right words for it. It just looks better now.
But the company better dang well release it for PC! If they dont, well then anyone can hold up a gun to those peoples heads right now. They'll do it anyways, eventually...

If they didn't have modding in SWBF3 it would hurt Lucasarts one bit. They could make a terrible game called Star Wars: The Dookie Battles and it would sell well. It's Star Wars, so frankly if one of us doesn't buy the game (or even a lot of us) they won't be hurting.
As far as the fate of SWBF3 goes, we know Free Radical is closing in January 2009. The RUMOR is that Rebellion Studios (who did SWBF: Renegade Squadron) will be taking over.
Yeah I knew they were going under I read it on GameSpot to bad because those are some really nice models. I don't think Rebellion will do a good enough job on it but now's their chance to prove me wrong.
If anyone hasn't noticed, this thing has been under work for a while. Look at the copyrights on the pictures. They're from 2007, so the game has been under production for a while. I hope they're close to being done.
Quite honestly I don't expect models of that caliber/re to make it into the final cut of the game. Cutscenes and trailers maybe, but the tricky thing about the SWBF games is that rather than ten or twenty player models on screen at once, you can easily have upwards of fifty or sixty, so graphical detail is toned down generously to make room for larger-scale fights.

To be fair Rebellion had to try to make the game good on the PSP --- SWBF2 wasn't that good on PSP either and it was done by Pandemic. So if they have a chance to use all the next-gen goodness we can expect great things.
You do realize that SWBFIII is still a rumor? These models may have been done to show LucasArts that they had a project in mind. That they'd be capable of making the game. I can't be certain for the games release partly due to the fact that it was LucasArt's Secret project. Whether this is what they were actually going to go through on remains a rumor.
