Re: Felucia: Mission Bountyhunter
I suggest doing it yourself, DarthRogueKnight gave you a very useful tool. But if you already have the era you want campaign mode to be accessed on working just upload the script to be edited and the world1 folder.

Just upload the worlds folder and the script you want in a zipped format.

Re: Felucia: Mission Bountyhunter
Ouch, I noticed something that may cause you problems when other people try to play your map.
Felucia; Mineral Basin (from BF0) also uses the same three letter name (FMB), which causes some strange errors when you've had them installed at the same time. I'd like request you to change that (I don't know how to do it, but I'm fairly certain it is possible).
Next time you choose a three-letter name, I'd strongly suggest you to look through the map archive to see if yours has been used before.
I know it's a pain and I hope I don't sound rude (+ I really don't want to force you to do this), but mineral basin was first, sorry

Re: Felucia: Mission Bountyhunter
I know but I think that's no problem, because the bf0 Map is a mod map, that means there is no FMB in addon folder, but in the map list it is shown two times, one blue(bf0) and one normal, I think.

No, sorry, I have to dissappoint you with that. I have experienced it myself; while working on improving the current maps, the originals wouldn't work anymore, even after I deinstalled the "not BF0, but loss-less" ones.

Re: Felucia: Mission Bountyhunter

That, or moving it to another folder first. It's maybe easier to try and see if there's an easy way to change your 3 letter name while your map is still a WIP. (though a far one, of course)

Re: Felucia: Mission Bountyhunter
This shouldn't be considered an issue, as far as I'm concerned every 3 letter combination has been used once by now, so it is the burden of the downloader which maps/mods he or she has installed since there is nothing we can do so long as there is interest in modding bf2. So as Darman said in his case the downloader will have to choose between his map or BF0 (although it is possible to change the maps 3 letter name for the folder after downloading so it doesn't overwrite the existing one not sure how it ends up though).mswf wrote:No, sorry, I have to dissappoint you with that. Yeah, it'll probably be fine. Just wanted to bring it up, it may be usefull in the future.

I mean, there are at least (36*36*36) 46656 possibilities, they can't all be used.
I disagree with that, however:bobfinkl wrote:This shouldn't be considered an issue, as far as I'm concerned every 3 letter combination has been used once by now

Actually, in the Taris mapping contest, two maps had the same 3 letter combo, and that crashed my game until i removed one out of the addon folder.bobfinkl wrote:This shouldn't be considered an issue, as far as I'm concerned every 3 letter combination has been used once by now

Re: Felucia: Mission Bountyhunter
They CAN be used but they probably won't, my main point here is it doesn't matter, I don't believe it should be the modders burden to look up every single 3 letter combination that has been used and then not use the ones already used or change it afterwards to accomodate a new map it is simply pointless to do. So let us leave it at that, that it is pointless to do (besides he already stated he wouldn't change it).mswf wrote:they can't all be used.
Which again should not be the burden of the map maker, we do have lives too and most of us simply don't have the time to make sure our 3 letters haven't been used which goes with my first point.Master of Stickmen wrote:Actually, in the Taris mapping contest, two maps had the same 3 letter combo, and that crashed my game until i removed one out of the addon folder.

I know, but I'm just stating that it would probably be problematic.bobfinkl wrote:Which again should not be the burden of the map maker, we do have lives too and most of us simply don't have the time to make sure our 3 letters haven't been used which goes with my first point.Master of Stickmen wrote:Actually, in the Taris mapping contest, two maps had the same 3 letter combo, and that crashed my game until i removed one out of the addon folder.

It's a bug, it's just being mentioned up-front. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that and if I were in the place of the author I'd want to know too.bobfinkl wrote:Which again should not be the burden of the map maker, we do have lives too and most of us simply don't have the time to make sure our 3 letters haven't been used which goes with my first point.
It's not a tough fix, all you'll need to do is update the mission script names of your map (which is the real problem, the game tries to load two missions by the same name) and then update your localizations to match the new three-letter name.[Skirata]Darman[M] wrote:ok, guys, I know that's a problem, but let's take another theme.
If you want a simpler fix, you could just munge a "new" map and paste all your data into the corresponding files munged by that (i.e. the contents of your .wld into the new .wld, etc.). You of course don't need to do it, but I think it can't ever hurt to make your map as accessible as possible.

Re: Felucia: Mission Bountyhunter
True, it's a bug that I wouldn't fix myself though, I simply don't take into account other people's maps when making my own nor according to my beliefs should others. But if he does and everyone else does that is fine I was voicing my view of it, but let's not get further off-topic.Maveritchell wrote:It's a bug, it's just being mentioned up-front.
