Kit-bashing Tutorial?

Post by MissingTexture »

Hey everyone,

I was wondering if there is a video tutorial on how to kit-bash player models and get them in-game working? I can't seem to figure it out on my own or find any other tutorial that I can fully comprehend since I am more of a visual learner

Cheers & thanks in advance!

Hi mate, what I've been doing is importing the player models you'ld like to kitbash, and then merge the parts if necessary and envelope it to the player skelleton. However, some parts don't need extensive moddeling/merging before kitbashing.

Besides, there are already clone trooper models for example, as .model or something like that, which are already enveloped. You could use these, add some parts, envelope them to one bone (a jetpack for example could be enveloped singlary (that's not a word I guess) to bone_ribcage and it would be perfect).

The XSI model I spoke about is in the tut about enveloping, and is in the FAQ somewhere. Basicly all parts when kitbashing can be 'partially' enveloped to specific bones to save you a lot of weighting troubles.

If you need help, let me know.

EDIT: I don't think there's a specific tutorial on how-to-kitbash. However, there are visual tuts on enveloping and weighting I believe
