Massive Helms Deep by SnakeEyes, Caleb1117 and Moonwolf

Post by Moonwolf=SotG= »

Here it is the WIP about Massive Helms Deep, or short MHD *current stage: 75%*

This map represents the Battle for Helms Deep, as seen in the Lord Of the Rings: The Two Towers

for those that do not know what it is, or just want to read it over and over heres a summary:

The evil wizard Saruman tries to conquer the kingdom of Rohan by attacking it with Uruk Hai
Rohan defends and retreats to the fortress of Helms Deep, which is easily defendable.
as the Uruk Hai approach, the elves enter the Hornburg to help Rohan

About the map

CW conquest: fight as one of the heroes like Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, Eowyn or Theoden against Uruk swordsmen, pikemen, crossbowmen, berserkers and Ugluk, the captain, or play as Uruks vs Men
Heroes: Gandalf and Saruman

GCW conquest: Have a competition of Uruk Killing between Legolas and Gimli

CW XL: same as con CW but with huge numbers of enemies
GCW XL: " GCW "

Assault: fight as Saruman or Gandalf, or take a Rohan soldier or a Pikeman

Campaign: fight as in the movies

Like I already told Caleb, I've got a spear model you may want; but it'll be a bit (I've got a map to release it in) before I send it to you.

Edit: Also, you may want to scale up the model you're using for Gimli, and give it back its alpha texture so that it's not shiny.

Looks cool.... If it ever gets finished.
You also might want to use the Gamorrean model for the Urukai instead of the magnaguard

Things you could add by looking at picks

-You could use Rancors as trolls.
-Add the catapolt that fred got working/released a while ago.
-Rain
-Once you decide on a model for the uruks you should reskin one with a white mask
-Add the wookie dreads to the model you decide to use for the Uruk
-In aragorns ODF add this line
ClothODF = "rep_inf_ep3cloakedanakin_skirt"
this will make the skirt thing show up too along with the cape
-Maybe if you have time, have one of the skinners try reskining the Qui-Gon/Cin Dralig model from tean's convert packassets for Saruman/Gandolf since that model has long hair.

I'm going to write out an explanation of why this project got around to be.

Flashback to 2005. Battle for middle earth was a popular RTS released by EA games.

I had joined a forum for it, and soon grew attached to the community, and somehow became leader of a modding clan, through alot of forum drama.

It would not be till 2006 that I learned to mod, but alas I lead them anyhow.

So, our big project that never got finished was Massive Helms Deep, an attempt at making 10,000 uruks spawn at once and fight them. Never worked out due to massive lag, but we kept trying until we gave up sometime this year.

This map is a tribute to our efforts, and alot of the powers and feel of it are based off the map from bfme.

This brings back memories...
Me, a freakin' long time ago, wrote:OK, since all of you want to stick to realism, i have studied some things in my LOTR Beistery, and i found that Uruks werent the only villains at helms deep. Their also were:

Dunlendings http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunlendings
Halve-Orcs (sorry no link. Their basicly Dunlending/Uruk combos)
Easterlings http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Easterlings
Make the skins. Or I will have a temper tantrum.

I'm not going by accuracy of any sort. I'm going with the plan that was most suited for MHD originally, minus the 10,000 uruk-hai.

But I should mention some stuff Moonwolf forgot.

Most combos have been reinvented so its not about button mashing, but strategic use of attacks. The main buttons are left click, right click, block button and some hidden combos are useable by crouching and hitting the jump button, others require holding block and left click.

Also, there are these modes:

Campaign, online / offline available
Conquest CW for even gameplay without saruman or gandalf available.
Conquest GCW with gandalf/saruman
XL mode for HUGE combat.
Hunt for tentavly, elves vs hobbits.

All you have to do is skin one of the orcs units differently...

But, I digress.

But then I'd have to make another custom combo for them.

=(

Seriously though, I've got Swordsmen, Pikes, Crossbows, Berserker and Ugluk, + Saruman. Isen doesnt need much more then that.

you could reskin the cin drallig model, and it would make an awesome legolas.

As far as a ton of orcs, maybe you should ask Dan_Boeing on how he got so many SBDs to spawn in his Hypori map. I haven't heard of any lag associated with that map.
