Awkward skins after merging?
Hey, As you can see from my pictures in the Model Showcase thread, my textures for my previous guns have not turn out the way i've wanted them to after I merge them
. I learned to merge my skins from the Noesis video tutorial on the Softimage site. So my question is wether or not the Noesis tutorial is correct on how to merge, and if it isn't, then what is the correct way
??? And if that's not the problem, then what is
??? Thank's
.

Re: akward skins after merging???
When you merge your objects be sure to merge their properties and delete or hide the original objects but don't include them in your final hierarchy.
You can control all of those actions in the ppg that comes up after clicking on "Merge".
If for some reason the ppg doesn't pop up after merging, you can get to it by selecting the object, then click on "Selection" located at the bottom of the Selection menu and that will allow you to explore the selected object, then click on the "Merge Meshes" operator in the list to bring up the ppg.
I would recommend using the Pro Mode in XSI rather than Mod Tool mode.

I've merged the mesh like that already, but still no dice. The problem arises after I merge all of the different texture projections and materials. Is there a certain process that I have to do that by
???

Oh, are you're talking about merging all the textures into 1 using the Rendermap property?
If you have a ton of textures for your model then you could just combine them all in photoshop and move your UVs over to the new image in XSI.

Re: akward skins after merging???
I've set tolerance to zero. And I used the rendermap property as well
. but when I delete the seperate textures, and then load up the new combined texture, that's when my problem occures. Could it possibly be the fact of me deleting the seperate textures
??? Or, could it have somthing to do with the lighting???
