wait until you play the prosecutor! you should worry more abour skyrim... :P
to all waiting betatesters: some (as always) unexpected ideas came up and are now put in. dont worry, everything that was supposed to be in the betas is finished, the additional time is only put into new feature!

meanwhile...a little explanation for everyone who wondered what this "specmap"-thing we mentioned, thats ony most models on the map, is:

Offtopic: How ironic, I just learned last night how to edit the alpha channel properlly to add the specular map. Now I have shiny, but not too shiny stormtroopers. :lol:

This map is looking positively awesome! I love the effort you guys have put into every aspect of this map; the textures, models, effects, sides....everything! It all looks really awesome. :)

My one issue with this map is that red doorway texture, which looks really low-rez compared to everything else in the pics. Its not major, but considering your more then capable abilities, I think it would look be pretty easy to do, andit would look much better with an updated texture. :P

EDIT: Also, what are those green light effects in the second picture?

the environmenttextures are half of the original resolution to save space and one texture is for multiple objects, so we cant easily increae the resolution of one objects texture without increasing the filesize uite a bit. maybe well go with the original textures though....

the green stripes are the bowcasters (rebounding) projectiles the wookie is riring at the dead/destroyed phase 1 trooper :P

Ah ok. Just out of curiosity, roughly how much would "quite a bit be"? Surely one texture can't make that much of a difference...

looks awesome ! :eek: , but may I suggest, maybe you could scale down the Bacta canisters and the Ammo thingy it looks just a bit too big ,Imo (Look at the 2nd picture at the bottom right). But it looks really good, keep it up :thumbs:

most of the environenttextures have an original resolution of 2048px. in that size 10(thats nearly all) are 150mb. with half the size (1024px) they are 35mb. with the current resolution of 512px they are 10mb. maybe well use them in 1024px, if it looks much better ingame then.

Oh wow. That does make a difference......If the maps <100mb after the update, i reckon go for it, but anything over that is a bit excessive for one map....at least it is in my opinion..

Yeah, you'll find out that the texture size difference between 1024x and 2048x is massive. It's quite evident in my new map, I have 4 2048x textures, with .options that don't compress them at all, it's like 130mb right now.

So I might end up scaling my textures down to 1024x to save file size, so I can understand AQT's/D.U.C.K.'s/ANDE's decision to scale the textures down(although I think 512x is too small, 1024x is a nice compromise between quality and filesize, and extra 20mb or so makes no difference to most people). :lol:



I will download the beta as soon as possible and begin testing. :wink:
