TrailEffect visibility

Post by DrDrSheldonLeeCooper »

Hello I added a custom Trail effect for the rocket launcher but I can see the effect only for ~20 meters.
How can I change this?

First, make sure your video settings are all the way up.
Then open your effect in Particle Editor and play with the LOD settings of the first emitter. See if that works.

The LOD settings. There's a Max LOD field and a Min LOD field. I can't remember if you want to move Max LOD up or Min LOD down... Try both and let me know what you find.

Left click on whichever one is listed first. In the properties view on the bottom left, there are two text boxes - Min LOD and Max LOD.

No problem. Sorry I can't be more specific, I can't remember which one you need to change to make it visible from longer distances.

You can always open up the .fx file in a test editor and manually change the LOD values as well.

I think that is actually the proper way to do it anyhow, it doesn't require downloading a dll or using a modified PE executable.
I never felt comfortable instructing anyone to download a dll and I may remove method #1 from that post entirely. -Done

With method #2 (now #1) you can also eliminate the common.lvl error on launch by creating this folder structure:
Star Wars Battlefront II\GameData\DATA\_LVL_PC\COMMON\ENG\common.lvl
where you would copy common.lvl from:
Star Wars Battlefront II\GameData\DATA\_LVL_PC
to the ENG folder.
