Tantive IV turbine energy effect

Tantive IV turbine energy effect
Ok, I'm stumped. How in blazes does the stock Tantive IV map do it's greenish energy effect when the turbine is powered on? I scoured the LUAs for that map, and the only things that were in the callbacks that are triggered when you destroy or repair the control panel involve the animation, death region, and Bot pathing. This in and of itself is strange, because the effect always goes away when the panel is destroyed, and then comes back on when repaired. Why wouldn't the script be activating and deactivating the effect? On top of that, there's no effect attached to any of the turbine props, and no other objects that I can see that could possibly be generating the effect. So...I give up! How did they do that?

Well, then I have a new problem: I need it much longer. Like, a variable length. Is there any way to modify it so that a) I can change the length of the green beam and b) I can actually see it in ZE so that I can easily make it line up? I considered making a self-piloted beam turret, but the problem is that I need to control the timing of these beams very precisely.

The green beam is an .fx, is it not? That would mean if you want to increase its length you would have to edit it either in Notepad or Particle Editor.

Sorry for being so n00bish. I'll try to be more thorough before coming to the forum for help next time.
Edit: Messing about with the effect options. I'll post again if I figure something out. Otherwise I might just have to set several of them in a row.
EDIT2: No dice. I got it to the length I need, but it disappears at weird angles (similar to how scaled up models disappears at weird angles). I guess I'll be placing a lot of these, then.
