I call shenanigans, Post Wireframe Pics or it didn't happen. Those are way to accurate to be fan made KotoR models.

Let me put it another way. Show us wireframes. That's a requirement for models of that quality. We have nothing except for your word that you made them. I'll tell you right now you're not to that level.
So you have a few options:
1 - Continue claiming you made them. Someone on staff will compare actual KotOR models against yours. If you stole them you'll be permanently banned. If you actually did them you'll be cleared and will probably get lots of requests to do models.
2 - Fess up. If you tell us now that you converted them then we'll let you off with a 3rd warning and you get to stay.
3 - Provide wireframes now to prove your innocence.
Remember, if they're stolen and you don't tell us right now consider it a permanent ban. No chance of ever coming back.

Re: Model showcase thread Part II
First of all i hate being involved in this kinda things.. Second, it's not my choice, but since I'm mentioned, I'll definetaly tell the truth of what i think..Darth-Revan wrote:dude i was talking about the heads and i suck at making space ships i can only make theese simple things if u wana ill send u wireframes and any thing u want
i worked hard on them ask moonwolf or Manderek they know i made all of theese for i think 2 weaks so i can prove they are
mine!
they are not animated tho
1. I haven't heard you 2 weeks about it. I heard you 2 chats about it, in one week. Saying that you were working on kotor models indeed. Still, it could just be a chat to get someone support, since you probably needed back-up if people might have found out that those aren't yours
2. I AM a moddeler myself, and I'll keep it short: 2 weeks is NOT ENOUGH to make such high quality models. I work on 1 model in 1 day. When I'm lucky it's bugless. I think you have a personal life.. Such models would require the FULL two weeks, at least
3. I've read through Mav's post, and dude.. You got serious trouble before because you just used models from the internet.. Kinda suspesious, especially since the models you post now are AGAIN from that caliber..
Sorry to get involved, and sorry to hurt your feelings Revan, but I'm definetaly not with you here..

Re: Model showcase thread Part II
Those aren't ported from Kotor, might be from elseware, but not Kotor.
I've spent alot of time looking at KotOR models in XSI and ingame, and those have several discrepancies.
Like the original KotOR small turret barrel is a long rectangle, where his is a cylinder.
Also there are several inaccuracies to the original models. like his being much more wasteful of polygons and having a much higher poly count then the original models.
This is NOT a vote of full confidence, I'm very skeptical. BUT if he did get these from elsewhere, I'd bloody well like to know where. I've looked all over the place for good KotOR imitations, with little luck beyond Iryni Forge's small pack.

Re: Model showcase thread Part II
Well looking at this from a nuetral perspective, It is fairly possible that these models are his
.
1. These models use fairly basic moddeling techniuqes that I even knew when I first started moddeling.
2. These models are are very high polied, and unless its for a next gen game, too high pollied for any expirienced moddeler to have made them. they haven't even been filtered of polygons, which most expirienced moddelers would know to do that. This would leave you to believe that a junior moddeler made them
3. As for the amount of time, yeah, it might be stretching things to say that all of these were made in two weeks, but alot of these moddels are quick 5 minute models. And if he hasn't skinned them, that makes them even quicker.
So I'm not saying he's innocent, but I'm definently not saying he's guilty either. I just think people should take these points into account before they start accusing Revan of stealing(which is a very serious accusation, one that should not be taken lightly
).

I think I understand what your saying
, that would prove my point even more so.
So with this being said, I for one think he's innocent

Re: Model showcase thread Part II
Which is exactly why wireframes were asked for. You cant tell if there are wasted polygons, or if its triangulated from a Shaded View. You can't really tell the methods used to make the model from a shaded textured view which is why wires are god for catching palgerists.
Also, Revan, don't get too upset about the accusation. You're relatively new here, and we just see great looking models instantly, that look to be exact replicas of KoToR models. The staff here gets real twitchy about stolen assets for good reasons. One being, giving due credit to creators/developers, the other is Copyright laws that could very well lead to Gametoast being Shutdown which is something we all don't want. A Cease and Desist order should be avoided at all costs.
With Caleb's analysis and the fact that you responded quickly with the wireframes and you weren't Ban Hammered when they merged your Posts, you are most likely in the clear. I cant say for sure, but looking at how they responded to xxInsanityxx and the M16 incident. I figure your gonna be good.

Re: Model showcase thread Part II
Alright fellows, let's stay on topic and get to posting some pics of your work.
Wireframe pics are a requirement for everyone from here on, so if you post a pic of your model in shaded or textured be sure to post a wireframe or wireframe on shaded pic also, this not only proves it to be your work and avoids plagiaristic accusations but others will also learn from your work by examining edge flow, and learning is the important thing here because the more you learn the better you'll get.

if you show them not "instantly", you could delete some edges, add some edges riangulate/quadriangulate it to make it less takenfromanothergameorsomebody looking

Re: Model showcase thread Part II
Further to Ace's post, while the montage of all the models does save on number of pictures posted, I would like to see the XSI with the XSI tree (or which ever modeling program you use) screen as well. You can take a screen shot (Ctl-printsreen) of it and crop it to just the XSI window itself so no other things of the screen shot are shown if you so desire. If you asking why, it is because a lot can be told by that as well sometimes even more than a wire frame.
But that's just me.
But also as Ace said lets get back on topic and show your work.
@Revan, with your models there are a quite a few extra polies like the grid kind of thing on the locker and some of the others, most of that detail can be accomplished with a nice texture and a bump map. It helps with poly count and BF2 doesn't really handle small sharp edges they tend do disappear in game.
The only time you'd need to do it would be if a bunch of different parts of a texture or a bunch of different textures are being used for that area.

Re: Model showcase thread Part II
Awesome models. Really great looking. I can tell they aren't the original KotOR models though, not from first glance, but if you look a bit closer you can see some differences. Example: Look at the Rakatan droid's "head" and compare it to the KotOR model.
They look really great, very detailed though.

What are these things? Pazaak cards and...?
EDIT: Blast. Imageshack is failing.
