Character not appearing in-game

Post by carfanaticphil »

Hey, ive got a slight problem.
I followed the jedi side creation guide in the documentation exactly, i modified all the .odfs .reqs and .luas etc. to have the character, and i set it to replace my sniper, but instead of appearing, it doesn't, and my sniper has disappeared. This has happened in a lot of my other maps, and i have no idea what the problem is
http://files.filefront.com/data+AACrar/ ... einfo.html
that's the link for it. its a rar, and its got my whole data_AAC folder in it.
please help me
any and all help would be greatly appreciated, if you tell me what the problem is here, that might be the key to fixing all my other mods :D

Instead of me downloading that whole pack, can you just post your lua.

I d/led the file (better not have a virus) and you need to copy and munge the common folder from the assets into your sides folder with the JDI folder
The lua appears to be correct and your JDI folder is fine
Just copy that folder and munge it and all will be well (hopefully)

That is incorrect.
BF2 Jedi Creation.doc wrote:The “lvl” line means that the files that are included end in “.req” and comes from the “req” folder.
You have the text inside both REQs set up correctly, however, as the quote above says, the side REQ includes the unit REQs by their name. This means that you have to change the name of your unit REQ from rep_hero_quinlan.req to jdi_demojedi.req.

Next you need to
BF2 Jedi Creation.doc wrote:copy _BUILD/Sides/ALL/clean.bat and munge.bat
into your \Sides\JDI folder. Of course, when you munge, don't forget to select JDI to be munged.

As to why your sniper disappeared, that's because you replaced it with something the game didn't recognize as existing.

What do you mean, you couldn't spawn? When you press 'Spawn' you get a CTD?

no it didnt ctd, the side selection came up, with the background black. i clicked on republic, all of them were there, including my custum character. the mini map with the cp selection was black, there werent any cps on it. when i pressed spawn, it just refreshed, with the characters coming up again, thus not allowing me to select a cp or spawn.

Does it work now?
If not try a Manual Clean (it's a sticky on the SWBF2 Modding forum)
