CWA models port become legal?

Post by Deviss »

Hello to everybody, i have a little question, after months of closed CWA game i read this article:
http://www.gamespot.com/articles/soe-sh ... 0-6417333/

so if the game is closed, my question is, does it legal port Clone Wars Adventures models?

could i convert and release cwa models for bf2??

Thanks.

Daybreak Game Company (formerly SOE) already gave their stance on people using their assets in other games here:

Unfortunately, we are unable to allow in-game content to be given or to be used outside of the original game. This violates copyrights for Sony Online Entertainment and LucasArts.
I don't see sites like Facepunch having problems with it, Guru and/or Administrators have the final say here though.

Honestly I don't see a problem with SWG or CWA models being ported. Both games are no longer in production, and the models are too low quality to use for anything besides iOS/Android games. However our policy of converting only necessary things should be followed. For example, we don't need another General Grievous model or cartoon Clone Troopers, as we already have some. But if there are things that we don't have, such as props for planets or unique characters, that should be fine.

lt;dr

It's fine as long as 1) we don't already have a similar asset, and 2) we don't go nuts converting everything.
