Are you using Vista by any chance?
If you are, I suggest reading through our FAQ thread - it addresses a couple issues with the mod tools, munging, and Vista:

Specifically, the last one sounds like your problem.Note to Vista users:
If you can't find your BFront2.log it may be saved to this location:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront II\GameData
Question - Does Star Wars Battlefront II work with Windows Vista?
Answer - Yes it does.
Question - I'm using Vista and I munged my new map but it isn't showing up here:
C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront II\GameData\Addon
so where is it?
Answer - Your newly munged map might have been copied to this location:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront II\GameData\Addon
Question - I'm using Vista and Visual Munge is not working properly, it is munging too fast so what's wrong?
Answer - Try THIS workaround to get it working properly.

Being a new modder myself, I know how easy it is to get confused, so I tried to be as descriptive as possible:FlamingBrownie wrote:Im new to modding and dont know much. but anyway everytime i make my map i finish it up and everything then when i munge it i wait and wait then its done i go to start my game goes to the load up screen the closes. i go into the BF2 addon folder and my map is there. I'm pretty sure this is your problem:
Did you, by any chance, cancel a munge at any point? that could account for the missing files, even if you didn't you should try doing a manual clean, here is a tutorial on one:
http://www.gametoast.com/forums/viewtop ... =27&t=9961
If not:
also do you mean when you launch BattleFront 2 it crashes, or when you try to load your map it crashes? If it's the latter, and a manual clean doesn't fix it, go to C:\BF2_ModTools (or whatever directory the modtools are installed to) and copy the BF2_modtools application, and paste into C:\Program Files\Lucasarts\Star Wars Battlefront 2\GameData (Or, again, wherever said folders are installed to) Run the BF2_modtools application. Try to load up your map (it should crash) Now in the gamedata folder find a text document called: Bfront2, copy the text inside and post here (in a hidden message only please)
Hope this helps.

Re: Map making
Have you changed the default installation directory? If you changed it, uninstall it and try installing it again without changing the path.

Re: Map making
When you munge, the only box you need to have checked is common (unless you have custom sides, sound and things like that)
Try making a new map, after it has finished doing it's thing and before you add anything to the map do a munge with just the common box checked, then go to the addon folder (or go in game) and see if it is there.
