How are Trolls and Ents like vehicles, do you sit on their shoulders or something?Fusion wrote:Buying it.
I love how much it feels like BFII. Four different classes, "vehicles" (Ent/Cave Troll)...

They're sitting there curled up, you press Right Bumper/R1/E and you become one.

Is it worth going through the hassle of creating an EA account to play MP in the demo? I played through the SP tutorial and was impressed thus far...

Frankly due to the fact that the 360/PS3 versions will outsell it bigtime.

Name me 10 multi-platform games that were released for PC as well in the last year that outsold their console counterparts and I'll take my statement back.

Just use your LIVE info for the EA account Tean.
I love multiplayer. I'm all like "ARGH I'm a mage! ARC Caster! Huge Droideka Shield! Heal! Run!" and Thire's all like "(Really short) Archer! Snipe lol."
I should also mention that the mage and archer work well together, as the archer can shoot through the mage's shield but no attacks can get through the shield to hit the archer. They really upped the teamwork factor from Battlefront, where the "mages" there would just heal themselves constantly with their little health packs. It's also really funny when you work together with another scout while playing as a scout, the enemy goes after you, while your friend insta-kill stabs him in the back.

Re: LotR: Conquest demos released (360, PS3)
I have mixed opinions. When I was playing it yesterday I enjoyed it immensely, but when I played it this morning... not so much. Warriors are seriously underpowered and charging into any other class who is at least somewhat skilled will either get you killed or make you easy pickings for the next enemy that comes along. Charging into groups also spells suicide. The combat isn't particularly satisfying either. You can get knocked over far too easily and when you manage to knock someone else over, it's completely random whether your attacks can hit them or not while they're on the ground, giving them a chance to attack as they recover.
I tend to find myself playing as a Scout the most. The combat is even worse but at least you get an insta-kill move and some pretty decent invisibility. It's then easy to sneak around to the enemy's base at the beginning of the battle when they've all rushed off to capture other CPs.
I really enjoy the simplistic gameplay that this game offers when compared to Battlefront II. With only four classes each one has a lot more capabilities. The Scout, for example, is not only the sneak around grabbing CPs type of class, he also works well as an anti-tank class. The Mage can go in heavy but can also heal friendlies and defend them from arrows and magic attacks with his shield.
I've also heard over at the Pandemic forums about a rock-paper-scissors formula, and to an extent I agree. The Scout beats the Mage, as he can sneak up behind him, invisible, and back-stab him while he is holding up his shield, allowing team-mates to pour fire in. The Archer beats the Scout, as his multi-arrows automatically home in on three enemies in the area, including invisible ones. The Scout loses invisibility when he takes damage, making him vulnerable. The Mage beats the Archer, since his shield completely blocks all types of arrows, and when he gets close enough he can simply chuck a firewall and lightning attack him to death.
Of course, that leaves the Warrior. I'm unsure where he fits in exactly. I find him to be most productive when sticking with allies, but I still don't think he works particularly well. Anyway, I still need some convincing before I'll be willing to spend £40 on this game.

Convincing? Does the fact the evil campaign starts with you knocking Frodo into the volcano help make that decision?
Also, I can't wait for the sequel. LotR Conquest 2, "we had to take the battle...into space.*"

Re: LotR: Conquest demos released (360, PS3)
I watched a lot of GamePlay videos on YouTube and it looks really good. The AI most of the time looked like they didn't know where they were going but hey I haven't played it so I don't know. Also the voices sounded a little odd in the videos. Were they better in-game? I'm gonna get an Xbox 360 in a couple weeks, and I still have a giftcard to spend from Christmas and LotR: Conquest is on my wish-list

Perhaps you were watching a video of a TV on which the game was being played, rather than directly captured from the 360/PS3.delta 47 wrote:Also the voices sounded a little odd in the videos. Were they better in-game?
If so then yeah sounds will be a bit odd in the video.

Re: LotR: Conquest demos released (360, PS3)
I was watching this video and this one. Between them both they go through the whole first level of the single player demo all in high def to. I don't know what they were taken with but it does look good. I was talking about the objective voices the narrator sounded like he was yelling in an odd fashion but anyway it doesn't really matter the gameplay is what matters.Taivyx wrote:Perhaps you were watching a video of a TV on which the game was being played, rather than directly captured from the 360/PS3.delta 47 wrote:Also the voices sounded a little odd in the videos. I don't think there will be a demo for PC, there has been no word of it.swbf_lase wrote:Does anyone happen to know when the PC demo is coming out?
EDIT: I found this:
No words on the Lord of the Rings: Conquest PC demo has yet came from either Pandemic Studios or Electronic Arts as reported by Big Download, according to which it is not sure whether PC owners can expect a demo as well. There have been lot of messages on the official forums of Pandemic asking about LOTR: Conquest PC demo?

Re: LotR: Conquest demos released (360, PS3)
Nope, no award weapons. If you have enough energy though you can use special attacks (each special attack takes up 25% of your maximum energy) by holding the LB or L1 button and pressing one of the face buttons. You can also use a crowdbreaker attack (which knocks all enemies in a small radius onto their feet while dealing damage) with LT+B/L2+circle, but your energy has to be completely full before you can use it, and it drains all of your energy afterwards. It's not particularly useful.
