One thing I've noticed about a lot of mods is that they always leave the droideka as it is. Is it a really hard unit to mod? I know the weapons can be changed. Are there any mods that do use modified droidekas? (and no, I don't mean reskinned

Modified Droidekas
Not sure if this is the right place, but I couldn't think of a better one.

Probably most people think it's ok how it is. In my mod, it's more points to unlock, has more powerful blasters, and has a slightly stronger shield. So just small stuff.
Plus it can only have 2 weapons afaik. So after giving it it's obvious weapons, there's no room for extra modded ones.

Yes, My droidekas are also much faster in ball mode like in the show and movies. I also have a modded droideka, The Ultra Droideka.
Its 1,5 times the size, has a powerfull blaster cannon on one arm, and a heat seeking missile launcher (the missles track you down automatically)

I know that's its real name and everything, but could you think of a less...corny one? Droideka Mark 3 maybe? The Ultra Droideka.

One arm fires the missles, the other the cannon.
Not really. I like haveing ultra units. Dont you think a Super Batteldroids name is "corny"Lagomorphia wrote:I know that's its real name and everything, but could you think of a less...corny one? Droideka Mark 3 maybe? The Ultra Droideka.

Simultaneously? This overkill sounds fun!One arm fires the missles, the other the cannon.
'Battle Droid' is a generic term. Adding 'Ultra', 'Mega', 'Hyper' or 'Super' to a Droideka's name seems to, well, cheapen it. It's like the difference between 'Supercomputer' and 'Super Dell'. 'Supervillian' and 'Super Sith'. 'Superweapon' and 'Super gun'.Not really. I like haveing ultra units. Dont you think a Super Batteldroids name is "corny"
Either way, if these Heavy Droidekas have guns like that, I'm going to have to download your mod and asplode one.

Re: Modified Droidekas
i have seen mods with modded driodekas. just look at Pepperland for example the driodeka has a mega blaster and a sheild that also shoots x-wings so yeah modded and increased speed.
in a mod i was working on i tested some speed changes on a 5000x5000 map and i kept flying off the map soooo, win or fail wow

Re: Modified Droidekas
If you want to add at least one more weapon to a droideka you can do it with charge, of course you would need to change the stock blaster to semi-auto for a better performance, I would fit them with Ion cannons, but that's because I use shields in some vehicles.
Plus, I make their shields regenerate instead of the opposite (by a small rate anyway), they are supposed to be harder to kill, the shipped droidekas are so pathetic barely anyone uses them online, same with officer classes.

IMOHO
Useing regenerating shields isnt great. The shield keeps regenerating the second you deplete it, making it alot harder to kill. When you want then to be more of a challenge, just raise the shield strength. I raised mine over 5000

Re: Modified Droidekas
I agree (that means concur) with WULF. I had regening shields on my deka before, and they were literally impossible to kill with blasters unless you were lucky enough to catch it with its shield down or were using the DC-17m sniper (beam rifle) which only 1 unit has, and he isn't on many maps. It was more challenging, but made some units, like my officers, totally worthless against them unless they went into ball mode.

Re: Modified Droidekas
i don't know just how off-topic this is but i found that you can give vehecal weapons to regular units with some modding. just go to the common folder and get all the .odfs of the weapon you want to change and all the .odfs of the vehecal weapon you want. (this works better if they both have the same file types like, odf, ord, tracer OR odf, ord, exp) ok now u delete all the words in the .odf, ord, and exp/tracer of the weapon u want to change. now you put the words from the vehecal weapons in to there corisponding solt (this means ord into ord, exp into exp, tracer into tracer, .odf into .odf) i have tested this before and it worked well on what i tested.
(i am not going to win the KNOW IT ALL award with this i know but i hope someone can use this)
um ok that was off-topic so for the sake of the post i am going to put something ontopic for it too. i have found out how to put a trail behind a driodeka. i put the rocket trail for the cis trifigher and gunships on a driodeka then increased the effect size by 5 and now i have a bunch of ninja driodekas flying across my 5000 by 5000 map while a bunch of super jet troopers runs around trying to shoot them when the emp luancher i made the lock on won't work
even though i tested it before and got an auto aimming sbd rocket luancher that shoots in any direction and hits a target with high explosives...

woaaah there buddy calm down hahaha.
Droidekas are cool because they can knock people over. I wonder if that could be transferred to regular units? Probably not, but worth a try

No.
Primary WEAPON = Blaster cannon
Secondary WEAPON = Homing missles (replaces shields)

They can? I have to try this.Droidekas are cool because they can knock people over.
It's like when you first discover the EaW AT-ATs can just trample just about everything to death.
