Got a issue on trying to make a loadscreen..

Post by Par3210 »

I want to make a loadscreen using Zerted's load screen utility, but I keep getting this error in the mungleog. I HAVE made it 1240x1240 as people said to. I don't know what the problem is. Here's the error;

Can someone help me? I really REALLY want a load screen for my maps. Please don't say "Read Zerted's other topic for a manual loadscreen installation, as I HAVE read it and it did not work either. Please help as I have been working on this for like 3 hours now and now getting tired of experimenting and failing.. :oops:

Like every other texture, it needs to be a power of two. Which would be 1024*1024, not 1240*1240.

Perhaps you can show us what the picture was supposed to look like and then it might be easier to determine your problem.

I'll tell you right away though, that sometimes you make a sweet picture and you set it as your loading screen and it looks... not so sweet. :(

The load screen utility has one bug in it. It doesn't always delete a temp file it should delete. If the load screen is correctly installed the first time it is used for a map, then theres no problems. If you keep trying to use it, the problem may show up. Right now, I can't remember which file it doesn't delete. Go through, and delete all the files related to load screen creation (including the lvls, but except your load screen tga). Then use the tool and see if it works.

Or follow the textural steps.

the problem could also be with the .tga itself I've had the problem loads of times and 2 things have worked for me 1) is save as .jpg which compresses everything then resave it as a .tga and remunge or just take the picture again.

I'd highly recommend Zerted's advice, he knows what he's talking about, and also yes just retake the picture if you can. Get a fresh start. And... don't use the loadscreen utility. As handy as it can be, I've always found it to be just as easy if I manually make the loadscreen.
