Extract <mapname>.lvl files?

Post by deagle »

Hello,

how can I extract mapname.lvl files? For example kam1.lvl (Kamino). I've tried the .lvl extractor, but I've no idea, how that works.
The BFbuilder Pro is installed on my pc...

Thanks ;)

lvl files are compiled versions of the map. Even when extracting the files you can't load them back up in ZeroEdit and change them.

In any case, why would you want to do that? BFBuilder already comes with all the shipped world assets.

Because I would like to change the texture's of the map, for example the walls or so...
Or is there another way to do that?

All the assets from the maps are shipped with the modtools, you dont have to extract anything in order to change the textures.
ANDEWEGET wrote:1. New Project.
2. Copy over all needed files(MSH,munged,ODF and world1 and/or world2 folders;<shortmapname>.req, too).
3. Change the textures.
4. Munge the map.
5. Override the existing <shortmapname>.lvl in SWBF\GameData\Data\LVL_PC\<shortmapname>\ with your one.

The basics you need for doing this youll have to learn by reading the documentations/other tutorials.
Your world folder would then look something like this:
data<shortmapname>\Worlds\<shortmapname>\ <shortmapnameoftheshippedmap>.req | ODF | MSH | munged | world1 <-folders from the shipped map.
