Uh, in case you haven't noticed, he kind of has been portrayed like that since AotC.
Well, he wasn't in TCW until they changed his hair. It was nice to get away from the pretty-boy look.

Decent. Except for the part where Dathomiri, Rattataki, and Zabraks are all THE SAME SPECIES NOW. :x

Where has that been said? Ventress (a Rattataki) was born on Dathomir and brought up alongside Nightsisters. There is a colony of Zabraks that also live on Dathomir.

No matter how much the show may have blurred the line between Ventress's upbringing and her species, it's pretty clear that they're not even trying to make the Nightsisters and Zabraks even look similar.

Remember, though - the best way to enjoy a show is to get upset about things you've only seen in a preview.

I concur :plokoon:

I wouldnt be happier if we were wrong. But think about it, they say that they the men from dathomir are easier to tame, talking to dooku , then they show the zabrak. 1+1 = fish :(

Plus, a ratatack that happened to be on dathomir thats not a native dathomir?

sounds very fishy to me....

OK; maybe I was just confused when Ventress called her "Mother". Although still confused about how the Nightsister called Oppress a male "of our kind." That's what's throwing me off.

"Kind" could mean "culture," "beliefs," or simply "geographical location." I'm willing to admit that I could be off my bean, but the odds are easily in favor of them not being the same. They don't look the same, both Dathomir witches and Zabraks are pretty established species, no one's explicitly said they're the same species - simplest rationale is that they are not. No reason in adopting a complaint about something isn't even necessarily likely to be true.

To throw my hat into the ring, Dave Filoni said in the commentary for the episode that he and the writer of the episode (Katie Lucas) tried to maintain as much of the established background for Ventress as possible, since Filoni knew that some of George Lucas' ideas for the story arc would throw the continuity out of whack. From what I understand, Ventress was born on Dathomir (and is presumably now whatever species the Dathomir witches are), but was taken to Rattatak at an early age and rescued by a Jedi, and from that point everything in her story is the same as what was already established. As for whether the Zabrak are just a colony or now warped into a different species from a different planet, I don't know.

The young Ventress (when she had hair) bared a striking resemblance to the Swedish actress who played the titular character from The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo... not that anyone here would have seen that film.

Anyway, really good episode. This is what I've been looking forward to the entire season.

"Mother" is a title, because she's the leader of that clan.

Maveritchell explanation is correct. The Insider itself explains that the males on Dathomir are indeed Zabrak. Not the same species of the Nightsisters.

I just watched the episode last night cuz I was too lazy to on the weekend and I gotta say it was a lot better than I was expecting. Its only a shame they had to waist an entire half part of the season to get this good. I'm eager to see next week's episode, looks like another good one and we finally get to see Darth Maul's so called "Brother".

Uhh I just have one question, why is Uncle Ona (who is dead) and the character that murdered him in the "Pursuit of Peace?"

"Pursuit of Peace" took place before "Senate Murders", the episode Ona died, they jump around the timeline constantly, it drives some people to distraction. not me, or my dad. we like it.

I absolutely enjoyed these latest two episodes. Not only were the story and action well done, they also really brought out the fantastical side of Star Wars.

One thing I liked was the Dathomir sky at night. And the falling star was a great touch.
