This might be a stretch, but MAYBE, just MAAAYBE......he knew your admin password and logged in.

It's extremely hard to hack in BF2.

Only your friends' admin passwords?

There's only one admin password for every PC server. Your friends' admin passwords are the same as yours.

False.

/admin /adminpw <newpassword>

However,

This is true.
Which is why I said earlier in the thread that other, unknown forces are probably at play. Plus, there's no reason to hack SWBF2. There are no achievements to get, no special upgrades aside from the award weapons and effects (which really aren't worth hacking a game for), and no incentive to win a battle other than self-satisfaction. The only reason anyone would take the time to hack SWBF2 is to troll other players, and to go through all the effort required, its just not worth a troll's time when there are SO many other (and easier) ways to troll on SWBF2.

But doesn't typing /admin /adminpw <newpassword> simply replace your old one?

Nope, if you don't set a password, there isn't a password at all. And that's how every server is.

Here's how it goes:
When you create a server(non-Dedicated), you and only you are the admin. You are automatically the admin with no need to login. There is no adminpw. If someone were to just type "/admin /login ", it would not work. You, as the only admin, must set the password to what you desire. Without the adminpw command, no one else has access to server admin commands aside from yourself.

You must do this everytime you start a server, as the password does not save from one server to another.

Now PC Dedicated servers are a different story... But the same principle holds true: if the server creator does not specify a password, no one can be the admin. So either way, the server creator is always in control of a custom admin password.

I know that, Twilight. What I meant was that it if you had already set an adminpw, typing another adminpw will simply replace your old adminpw IF one was set.

the people who are currently "Hacking" are mainly trolling server (my friend is in a clan and the other clan was a bunch of hackers) they mainly just annoy people by using the shutdown code or taking control of FC.
Hidden/Spoiler:
This is kinda off-topic and not really hacking but i just think this is the right spot to post it, there is a new guy on the game who goes onto a server and then says he is lagging, then tells the hsot to type the admin code for lag but then he gives the code as /admin /adminpw nolag which is setting the pw not setting the lag code (/admin /waitlate) then once he gets admin he starts booting people and then boots the host causing the server to end. this happened at one of the servers i was at. the host remade the server and i told him/her what happened. the person's name is Fumasu/Harata/[Blank Name] each of his names he does a different thing for the Fumasu name he uses the fake admin code, for Harat name he goes in and breaks all the server rules then you boot him and he comes back as a noname and starts spamming like crazy (he doesn't have the hack tool for spamming/trolling/fake chatting but he does just type the ctrl+j code over and over again just to spam. i banned him from my clan's dedicated server but he still goes a bunch of random places to spam/annoy/take admin from people.

Just wondering...how does one take control of FC? I thought it was only the host that was able to use it.

I hate hackers

that is why this is called "hacking" for somereason i think someone made an LUA script for taking over a server, it is possible, i got a feeling that it is like the LUA for using FC for a dedicated server or something... whatever it is it works.

EDIT
there is a guy on swbf2 named "Star Killer" his name has a space in his name so that it takes up two lines. he is a hacker. i think he has some type of user script for hacking. it makes him become the host. this is the second time this has happened. he becomes the host with it and when you boot him the server goes down. this is on my friend's dedicated server that we got. the person is getting very annoying because he always comes right about when we get near 20 people on the server. he also uses a code to make himself invinciable. probably by using lua coding to make that class invinciable since when he joins others turn invinciable too (i did once or twice). does anyone know a way to counter this.

i found that also when he joins the player list for remote manager goes blank so that i can't ban him for good. i think he is using a combination of hacking tools, lua coding, and user scripts based on my knowledge of hackers. does anyone have any idea of how i can stop this guy from doing this to my friend's dedicated and to others?

IP ban him. Works every time. Of course, you have to find out his IP first...

1. Are you sure he is really taking control and not just using an exploit to force a server crash? (I believe there may be some but I need to test it...)

2. Does he have a very high (or low) ping? If it's very high that could be the source of his invulnerability.

3. I don't think that a client can make the RM list go blank. I think it's just SM/RMs ability to be...temperamental...that causes that.

1. yes he is taking complet control and can use admin and the lua commands of invinciable units
2. its not lag of any type, you can hit him for awhile and also its for others too sometimes
3. it was on and working but just as soon as he joined it went blank and for me and my friend and its happened more than once

i am starting to wonder if you read my post because i also said that i can't ban him due to the player list not working when he comes.

I read that post. That's how I formulated those questions! :P Here's a stab in the dark, but have your friend manually change the admin pw to something secure and try again.

we already did and he didn't need adminpw for it, also just having admin wouldn't let him be the host (aka server down when he leaves and use of FC lua coder)

I'm just speaking out from what I know from managing other games (sa-mp is a hackers paradise)
But doesn't the server create a log of everything?

Perhaps each person who joins it gets logged and so does their ip..so then you can just ban him from a whitelist or something.

Again I'm just pointing this out, I'm not experienced with bfII servering so I don't know anything about it but all options should be noted..

it logs chat but not ips, and the server manager can't connect anyway when he joins since he usally changes the admin pw so we can't use it.

I've never seen a Lua script take control of a server or have any meaningful effects on the server from the client. If someone has one, I'd love to see it.

Hacking SWBF2 from outside the game isn't too hard, it's more that no one really tried before.
