Modeling Help Please [Solved (for now)]

Post by CalvaryCptMike »

Okay so I'm working on a model of a capitol ship. It's going very well but two problems have arose.

1st. When veiwed from far away ingame it disappears, adding a GeometryLowRez line in the odf didn't help much. :| Please help.

2nd I added an envmap but it seems ineffectual. Is there a parameter I need to use in a hexeditor to make it look glossier? Or could it be that I used it for 24 of the 60 projections? Please help here too.

1st: the geometrylowrez ine is only used for units. for any othe model, make a "copy" with less polygons and name it "something_lowrez", you can have multiple lowrezmodels for oen object. drag them all under the dummyroot, hide them (you dont have to though) and export as usual.

2nd: you can change the appearance of the envmap with the method discussed here. it will make the envmap display mostly highlights, so it pretty good for glass.

Barrier Oddity

Post by CalvaryCptMike »

Okay so now I have a problem, there is an invisible barrier haunting me now :( :

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/849/oddity.jpg/
The image is painted over because I'm making the model for someone and I don't know if they want part of it to be seen.

I don't know how well it can be seen but there is a big hole there (that's supposed to be there) and it has collision there, nothing can get through, It's not a hexedit or anything, there are no polies there in xsi.

All it is is a cube with the normals inverted, subprojection applied to polies, then part of that deleted so that there would be a hole in it.

Also what is making the textures all wacky? They look fine in XSI

I'm using xsi 7.5. Please help me fix. It took me 20 minutes to apply the envmap in meshtool and I don't want to have to do that all over again, if I could just hex edit or something... :|

Once done exit the texture editor window and then select the object with object select mode.
You will see a green box around your model, as seen in this picture (below) when the model is selected press freeze and it will go.
