Which maps should I give a space level?
Ok, so I haven't touched GT in a while because I had a problem with a map that I haven't solved yet (located here) and I just decided to put that on pause and go to another idea... changing bfront 2 maps to have space battle over that very planet, kinda like in elite squadron. I've never played Elite Squadron and I'm not sure what maps to mod. So I've decided to ask GT what maps to give a space level. Happy voting!

You want to merge land and space battles, or add land scenery to a space battle?

I want to put one space level with one land map.
EDIT: it is gonna be in a map pack so it won't be so hard to do.

These already all exist (see: Galactic Conquest) as part of the game; they're not included in the Instant Action checklist, since they're redundant in terms of setup.

I mean flying from space to land and/or from land to space all in the same mod/map. I haven't seen this done yet. Sorry if I wasn't specific enough before.

So you do want to merge land and space battles. Have a search around the modding forum and see why you'll run into lots of problems.

Capital Strike's bunches of AI huddling in the hangers doing nothing is a prime example of the AI planning problems involved.

Well then, I will just have to try to do a better planning job.Fiodis wrote:Capital Strike's bunches of AI huddling in the hangers doing nothing is a prime example of the AI planning problems involved.
You should remember this forum Fiodis. I have done a few tests and right now I have added Kashyyyk and Geonosis with two transporters to eachother. But when my computers power supply blew up I had to replace it; later I tried resuming moding but got the problems I listed in here.Fiodis wrote: So you do want to merge land and space battles. Right now I believe the way to get a space battle into a land battle is to use transporters and put the space battle below the actual terrain. Then use skydomes that have exteriors that look like space so you cant actually see the land battle (the skydomes would have a bottom added onto it).

Re: Which maps should I give a space level?
No, you misunderstand; Capital Strike's problems are not due to incompetent use of planning hubs but because of a hardcoded limitation that AI can only precieve planning in two dimensions.linksith wrote:Well then, I will just have to try to do a better planning job.Fiodis wrote:Capital Strike's bunches of AI huddling in the hangers doing nothing is a prime example of the AI planning problems involved.
Teleporters can't really go through terrain or objects well, and they aren't always exact, either. Doubtless you could challenge every problem of merged land/space battles with some workaround or another, but feasability is a whole different ball game. Try what you want, but in the end I'll believe it when I see it (and a reasonably bug-free version of it).
Also, the thread (not forum) that you linked to ended inconclusively.

That's odd, it works just fine for me.Fiodis wrote:Teleporters can't really go through terrain or objects well, and they aren't always exact, either.
