Keeping mod size down to a minimum
Every time I munge my map, the addon folder size is a whopping 570mb. 99% of this is the SIDES folder. I delete it and the map still works. But I'm getting to where I want my custom skins to show up. How do I convince the munger that the only side files I want are my punily sized skins?

Re: Keeping mod size down to a minimum
I followed it exactly, but with no success. THe skins are stillm the default.
I tried including the entire IMP foder, with my edited skins, and they showed up that way. But I would sooner sacrifice the skins than deal with an oversized mod.
I think that I might possibly be choosing the wrong options in the munger? I don't see anything remotely similar to my side name in the addon folder.
Please reply soon, I'm trying to get a beta test going and once this is done I should be all set.

What units are you using in the map?

The stock. I'm trying to use my custom textures for the imperial scout, trooper model, and dark trooper.

I'm really not so worried about that particularly ATM, I just want to get my skins to override the stock. Perhaps that would be a feasible solution, but might there be one along the track I was already on?

Re: Keeping mod size down to a minimum
What you need to do is set up a custom side with custom textures and all. The trick is only including the files that you need, and nothing more.
If you're having trouble with the tutorial Xavious posted up there, then I'd recommend trying to get the hang of custom sides first before fooling around with REQs. Once you understand how to set up a custom side, you can set one up that only includes your textures and a req file, but you ought to get familiar with the basics of side setup, first.
A quick tip - make sure you have a folder in data***/_BUILD/Sides as well as in your map's sides folder, and make sure this _BUILD folder contains the proper stuff (clean.bat and munge.bat).

Re: Keeping mod size down to a minimum
Meh. I'll deal with this later.
Thanks much for the help. I think I know what I can do to make it work now.
