CD key unauthorized to play

Every time I go to join a game online, I keep getting this message: "Your CD key in unauthorized to play this gae,".

What is this about? What does this mean?

Do you have a legal copy of the game? Is someone else using the same CD key as you? If the answer is yes and no respectively then I'm out of ideas.

Well then you're out of ideas, because it's legal and no-one else is using the cd key.

My guess is someone else might have guessed your cd key by random chance and is using it, you should be able to get a new one through customer support or something.

How many different games did you try to join? Dedicated servers or player-hosted? (If dedicated, which ones?)

Dedicated server used to test DMI. That's the only one I tried to join.

Sounds like a generalized statement to me. You should have specified that in your first post to begin with.

Try redoing the online registration with LucasArts again (even if you have already registered)
Also try joining another online game see if you get the same message.

if you've never played online before the above is the case is most likely, somebody could have used a keygen to install an illegal copy and played online

Yeah, sounds like someone stole your CD key using a keygen application. If you have a receipt or some other proof of purchase you can contact Lucasarts. I'm sure they'll give you a replacement key.

You're not banned from the server, that's a false assumption. If you were it will say "You have been banned from this server." Got banned from Mercenary Gaming once for a few days... slight misunderstanding between me and an admin.

I actually have this exact same problem with SWBF1. I e-mailed support a few days ago (literally right before I saw this topic) and this is the response I got.

In order to issue you a new key, we will need proof of ownership. Please send in a scan of the following as proof of ownership so we can issue a new key:

NOTE: If you do not have one or more of these items, please send scans of all the items you do have.

1. Purchase Receipt
2. Front of the CD(s)/DVD(s)
3. Front and back of the Manual
4. The Front of the box
5. The license key
6. Reason for replacement request

If you no longer have some of the items listed above, please send in scans of all of the items you do have.

It used to be a common problem a long time ago. I forget some of the reasons you'd get that message. Waiting a while and restarting could help fix the problem. However if you always get it day after day on every server, then it really is a problem with your CD key.
