PC problem with Battlefront II
My Friend recently got Star Wars Battlefront II for the PC, but he says that he can't get it to run. Here are the details about the problem he wanted me to post. I'm sure the cool guys at Gametoast can help him fix the problem so he can start enjoying Battlefront II on the PC. All you comments I'll past onto my friend:
My Friend's Problem:
Windows 7 computer.
Every time I try to launch a game, as in, making a playlist, and trying to launch it, the screen will go black for a couple seconds, then go to the desktop, completely turning off the game.
After analyzing the computer to the game, the only test it failed was the speed test. The computer was too slow, but I don't think that would be the issue in this case.

I have this problem also, but I just plug in my headphones and everything works. I have tried what 501st_Commander said, but I don't get the "right click stereo mix" thing. Theres nothing that says stereo mix, and I'm using Vista. Confused.....

If it doesnt have Stereo Mix then you dont have somethig BF2 needs installed.

Re: PC problem with Battlefront II
But this is a common problem for Vista-users. There doesn't seem to be any solution other than to: a)disable in-game sound, b) do that stereo mix thing, or c)plug in headphones.
If I don't have something that SWBF2 needs, then I don't know what that is.

^lol.
tell him to D/L http://www.piriform.com/speccy
find out what audio hardware he has. and update the drivers (from the manufacturer, not distributer) then he will have an audio mixer to fix his problem.

yes, its a kind of control-center for the driver, but make shure you have a realtek soundcard first !
otherwise either nothing or some strange things will happen

I don't even know what sound card I have. It just says "high definition audio device" or something like that.

Re: PC problem with Battlefront II
to find out what soundcard you have:
1. go to the start menu
2. click on "run" and enter "dxdiag"
3. browse to the "sound1" or "sound" tab
4. under devise name you should now see the the producers name (atleast for my ausiocard it included in the crads/drivers name), if its npot there look at the provider of the driver
now that you found out what card you have, search for a controlcenter or the newest driver for it
