Is there a way to hex edit the number of soldiers on the battlefeild on the shipped maps?

Do you mean the reinforcement number ? (Red and green numbers appearing on the top of the screen)

If I were you, I'd make these changes using files included in SWBF Mod Tool... Edit units' number on the battlefield is a little difficult and tiring with hex-editing...

really? I thought you just changed the number like this (since I'm not a mapper, I can't remember it all):
something-something-XXxxXXxx-Rebel_soldier, 7
the-same-the-same-something-Rebel_Infantry, 10 - I just thought you changed the number to .... 30 or 40 - or the number you wanted :?

I know you must hex-edit "mission.lvl" and look for the name of the map where you want to change units number... (As in the tutorial theguarder gave us...)
Once your hex-editor has found a result, make a new search from this point (And not from the beginning of the file) with the name of the units as keywords. (For example, "all_inf_vanguard" for Rebel Vanguard, "cis_inf_droideka" for the Destroyer Droid, etc...)
But after, I've not found any track of those units' number... :(

thanks anyway. i thought it would be kind of cool to have more people in maps like hoth
