*READ THESE* (making new units is a lot of work)
Tutorial on modeling
Texturing
Adding Modded Units To Your Map

***Google "GIMP" and "Softimage XSI" for tools you may need*** OR minor painting type changes to tga files with photoshop

To edit weapons; all weapons settings are in the ODF file(s) for that weapon... use ***THIS TUTORIAL*** to to get started. Once you have ODF files all figured out (basically) try out some of your mods.

In the future just "Create a New Side" in BFbuilder Pro instead of "Import Retail Side" and just add the unit and features (weapons) you want to mod - this keeps your projects size reasonable (import retail side adds all the units weapons and vehicles and adds about 40 Mb to your project. but for now familiarize yourself to the process with the quick-and-easy modding tutorial

the best way to learn is trail-and-error and RTFM
good luck

Updates and Downloads for BFBuilder
The file you want is BFBuilderProWIP030605.zip

If you haven't yet, read the section on what updates and fixes you should install for BFBuilder
Here in this Tutorial.

just put it in your c:/BFBuilder file (right beside the old BFBuilder if you want) just put in there and its ready, open to start.

Use Pro to create new sides and use the tutorials i had shown you before... and your adding units nightmares will be over. BFbuilder Pro makes it a lot easier.
Import retail side to practice simple mods to existing units...

ps i dont think they make lemon copies of downloaded programs... unlike lemon cars, I'm sure your BFBuiler is fine... use pro and start fresh

Does it matter about where I have the BFBuilder saved that might make maps not function or have errors? I have the tools saved in my SWBF Add On folder.

P.S. Is there any place to get Coruscant type buildings and backrounds? Im making a Taris map. A big urban sprawl planet

The very second paragraph of the first section of the modders tutorial says:

"If you have correctly installed the SDK, you should have a folder on your drive called BFBuilder. It should look something like this: C:\BFBuilder. If you do not, then you may have installed the SDK incorrectly and need to reinstall it. You MUST have it it your root drive and not installed within the LucasArts folder! Otherwise it will not work!

If you walk through the Star Wars Battlefront Modding Tutorial from start to finish, step by step, you have successfully completed your 1st map; adding CPs, Health & Ammo droids, and objects.

Too get objects from BF2 you can download the BF2 mod tool kit

Just make sure anything from Battlefront 2 does not include things that only exist in that game. For example, cloth tends to cause problems. ODFs might have details missing or new variables that didn't exist in the original Battlefront.

Also, I seem to recall problems with BFBuilder were caused by spacing in the paths. While C:\BFBuilder has no spacing, C:\Program Files\BFBuilder does. I don't seem to recall any problems with my having it under C:\LucasArts\BFBuilder :).

Laser is right. You dont have to have BFBuilder rooted directly to C:/ drive. But I just refer to the what the manual says.
