Re: WIP Space: Boarding Action (Updated 3/1/08)
Just a little word on progress, or the lack of it. I was hoping for a release near Halloween, but it's looking more like it'll be near Thanksgiving. I've managed to put in the bridge exit teleports, and clean up a few odfs. I'll see if I can get the ISD bridge covered, and maybe work on a few other things over the weekend. After this, my vacation's over, and my old time limits will be in place.

Re: WIP Space: Boarding Action (Updated 3/1/08)
News:
Things are going slower than I'd expected. I've spent recent days resizing and repositioning the ISD bridge. However, I'm coming to the conclusion that I'm not going to get the rotation the way I want it, therefore it'd be useless to try sealing it using a model that wouldn't match the rotation of the bridge. Instead, I've decided to start work on a new bridge model, which I'd been meaning to do anyway.
So this morning, I'd begun work on shaping the crew pit. Still, I'm not certain as to whether I could have this ready in time. I'll just have to see how this plays out.

Re: WIP Space: Boarding Action (Updated 3/1/08)
I've come to the conclusion that I'll have to cut whatever I had listed as "planned" until the next release. I'm giving myself through the upcoming weekend to make additional changes. It'll be released in whatever state it's in sometime during the next week. I'm mostly giving myself another week just to deal with a few annoyances and disable a few things that aren't ready for play.

Boarding Action 0.6b Release Thread
A note on the teleports: The ISD bridge exit is the corner to the right of where you appear, and the MonCal bridge exit is set similarly via the short hall leading out of the right side of the bridge. The exits send you to a point near the Life Support systems.
To answer the lift question, the models and the layout don't lend themselves to using a lift for either cruiser. In it's current state, a lift would have to move diagonally outside the cruiser hull or somehow change directions within the ship and manage to move units through collision geometry. It'd be a huge headache over something more readily solved with teleports, despite their being a little out of place in-universe.
In case anyone wonders why it's now 258 MB when I'd previously reported getting it down to 234 MB or so, I'm not entirely sure, but I believe it's related to adding the (disabled) CW era.
Also, another disturbing little developement. I finally understand one aspect of my bridge orientation problems. It moves. Ingame. While I'm in it. -_- When I enter, it's rotated one way, but once I reach the viewports and check it again, the rotation has changed. I'll have to recheck, but I'm pretty sure one of those orientations is the way it's set in ZE, but I can't figure out where the other is coming into play, or what moving about the bridge has to do with making it change.
