i'm having a problem with the envmap stuff: its not working,,,...I did everything as described on rep's topic, but my object doesn't have the envmap effect. Is it possible that i need a msh.ption file also ?, like for the glow-effect?

Can your computer render these things? If you are unsure, post a picture of a Rebel trooper on Tantive IV on high settings (stock game).

By any chance did u NOT put the "helmet_envmap.tga" and "helmet_envmap.tga.option"
into ur sides msh folder.

These 2 files can be found within the ALL sides assets.

1: Yes, i've made a simple new object with XSI 5.1, made it to a msh with mshex, then edited this with meshtool, but it didn't work....
2: I wasn't quite sure, that's why I just (for testing) gave my object the "helmet_envmap.tga"-texture to be sure, but this also did't have the env-effect in-game. Does thix texture even have an alpha-channel? If not please let me know. Any other ideas ? thx

my envmapped models don't have eye-or-tail of an alpha channel on any of their textures.

Just go to meshtool, ask for envmap, press the right number on which texture u want to envmap which u have UVed to ur model (remember its .tga name k) (this CANT be helmet_envmap k)

Once envmap take the new .m5h and put into sides, put its textures in the sides, and take the 2 files of helmet_envmap i mentioned also

OK but remember: I'm trying to give a normal object the envmap-effect, NOT a player-model or something...so are u sure i have to put my envmapped-msh-file into the my sides-folder ?? And what exactly do u mean with the "k" in the meshtool ? It doesn't say anything about that in rep's tut for his meshtool... , PLease help--

An example of a prop that uses envmap is the fountain on Naboo, the envmap is called cubemap.tga the ball she is holding is textured black and the ball is part of the statue not a separate mesh. The envmap cubemap shows up in the msh file as TX3D....cubemap obviously better if looked at the file yourself :)

Oh and cubemap.tga does not have an alpha channel.

ok so you're saying that my texture needs this option-file with -cubemap in it ?

EDIT: ok well it works now for spheres...and partly for cubes..i mean its only very undetailed, like zoomed in far too much... no matter how you edit it in XSI. any help `?
