Since I can't imagine pirates wielding expensive and rare geonosian sound guns, I'd vote for Nr. 2. And as long as the mixed method allows you to decide which capital goes down by wisely destroying frigates, I'd vote for this, too.

I am overwhelmed by the good ideas.

Actually, I got so caught up in doing the tinted glass, I forgot to say I was.

"Pirate w/ visor" v1
...It needs work, I think. You can only kind of tell where the eyes are, and if you only saw the face (I'm using the Rebel engineer- can't really tell), the eyes would be misplaced. The skin and the model don't exactly line up, so I'm going to have to do a bit of guess-and-checking. I'm going to work on it (more trasparent visor, ect,).
Also, I expanded/added armor. How's it look?

EDIT: Okay, I worked on it. Here's the newer one:

As for the guns being "rare geonosian sound guns", no they aren't. They, err... just look exactly like them. I'll make them less Geonosian, really. They won't be sonic, at least.

Honestly, unless the capital ship battle proves to be resistant to my efforts to make it work, I should get the first version out in a week or two.

If I'm honest, I could see anything but black on the old pirate. Yet the new one is different. IMO, this is the first pirate pilot that clearly developes away from his TIE-Pilot "ancestors"...but the new colour concept's still lacking a major change. But I'm confident this will come soon.

PS: Your shots which present characters are usually taken in the dark areas of peragus...I think taking screens of the skins in areas wíth more light would allow us to see more of your skins, and therefore, give more advice. You have such bright areas in your map, haven't you ?

Personally, I think that you should change the color of the skin completely. It looks way too similar to the Imperial pilot with the black jumpsuit. Probably maybe more of a neutral-greenish color would work well. And differenciate the pants and top as well. Make them completely different colors. In fact, make them two colors that don't really match, and make them look like raggedy old clothes that have been worn for weeks on end. Make them scruffy-looking, instead of clean-cut and uniform Imperial pilots with a slightly changed visor. Also, the visor is much too dark; you need to make it less opaque, so you can actually see the face underneath. Do it like my Rebel Rad Trooper:

Changes between these and what'll make it into the map will probably just be color changes in the suit (maybe making the face shinier, like Schizo's visor, to, you know, make it actually look like one).

So finally, we get the almost done pirate: A reskin of the gun makes it look like some kind of strange outer-rim technology, the face shining through the visor clearly draws a border to the imperial TIE-pilot. Maybe just making the military pattern on this trouser more noticeable (by making the "green" brighter) will be the final twist.

Open Beta released!

Open beta time! I'm not going to be back for a while, so have fun, go crazy.

Here's a list of known bugs/balance issues, in no specific order:
- Almost every single unit sound is missing. It was either that or the ship sounds.
- CIS capital ship isn't localized.
- Pilots repair ship while in them- it makes them near invulnerable!
- You can kinda see the edges of the map, if you look the right (wrong) direction.
- StarViper hasn't been changed nearly at all- doesn't mesh with the map.
- The Republic capital ship's hanger is open, can fly inside the ship.
- CP balance, nothing major.
- Some major AI issues have cropped up in the tunnels; the bots'll just stand around.
- Some tunnel pieces don't line up.
- The capital ship battle is almost completely one-sided; the CIS will pretty much always win.
Stuff I already plan on doing for the next version:
- Insert frigates for the space battle.
- Balance stuff, ect.

KotOR era

Yay! My first ever double post!

Anyway, I've been working on getting an KotOR era in (using units from the conversion pack), here's screenies:

As in screen 3, there are AI controled heros that spawn (it's a sorta crude system, though, it's possible for more than one of a kind to spawn, but I haven't seen it).
If this is released, I'm going to actaully need the OR/sith trooper's files; right now there's hordes of them with hero-level health.

Annnnd... here's a 'lil project I've been working on:

For some weird reason, I'm having a problem with Nihilus; he's using my Visas' skirt magically (see screenie 4).

Ok, your beta was awesome. Just some minor complaints: I didn't see any Star Vipers around, and I frequently got lost in the tunnels. So just reserve a Viper for us, on a place bots can't reach. And : Please add a minimap: The tunnels look the same everywhere, so it's hard to find out where you currently are, and even harder to find out where to go.

And, yeah your KotoR sides are awesome.

Alternatively to hiding the Viper where the AI can't find it, there is an odf call, something like "ReserveOneForPlayer = 1".

I don't know if you were panning on doing this but how about a hunt mode with pirates. And if you do that maybe how about normal reinforcments(no more 50 kills cr*p). And normal enemy sides(not just officers or whatever side you want them to fight)(I like the imps:)).
But thats just my idea.
