Time to bring down the harsh hammer of reality. :P

Disclaimer: The following is my personal opinion and under no way whatsoever puts the map's creator under any obligations of any kind.
In other words, it's his map, not mine.

A duck hunt seems like an OK idea to me, but not the way you outlined it. For one thing, where on Earth are you going to get Elmer and Daffy models? And the ducks, if you want them animated playermodels? I'm okay with making a simple duck model for you, maybe even adding a few hardpoints to make it a vehicle (that isn't hard at all) - but this is a bit too much for just me. I'd recommend forgetting about it. Or you could find someone else to help you, but I doubt you'll be successful.

Making the ducks on the pond in normal game modes as ZE-animated props seems like the best way, to me. As for duck mode, why not have two teams of hunters with, say, rifles or sniper rifles, taking potshots at duck-shaped, ZE-animated, destructable props gliding around on the lake? Points could be awarded for each "kill", points detracted for killing fellow hunters (on whatever team), and a certain point limit reached = victory. Quick, clean, and simple.

I just remembered that hunt doesn't even have heroes. I'm sure it's possible to put them in, but obtaining custom models for Elmer and Daffy would be too much work.

You have a good point. It would take way too long to find people to create the extra models and such. However, I would be very thankful if you made a duck model for me, with or without hardpoints.

Hmm. That seems like a very possible idea, definitely more so than my original one. I will look into this.

But sometime in the future, I would like this map to have the original duck hunt mode that I planned out.

NOOOOOOOOO!!! We have incredibly talented people here at gametoast. Just find one who you know could do a good job and recruit them to your cause! Don't be discouraged! The point of having a community like this is the fact that we all have a common reason for being here: to mod the living heck out of battlefront and make something better or new. This falls under new, and remember, if I was told something like the Dark times or the conversion pack would happen, I would have laughed in their face. But look at what they done! Get out there and MOD my friend! Who knows? Maybe you could learn something on the way and become one of the best modelers on gametoast! :thumbs:

yeah, I kind of went off on an epic speech there. Sorry...but seriously! Good luck! :D

Well, I never release a map before I think I can't do anything but wait for complaints and stuff I missed OR if it is perfect for release. Well...I try to. But I think you should get ducks to come out with your first official release. But that's my opinion. You can do whatever you feel like, I guess, right?

Oh, yeah, ducks are definitely going to be added with the first official release.

If you ask for help, you can get help, but a certain kind of help. If you are willing to learn the skills necessary to do this yourself, you'll have plenty of support - that's what the entire Modding forum is for. If, though, you want something done for you, chances are it isn't going to happen. "Recruiting someone to your cause" is a lot harder when your cause isn't a desperate rebellion against an evil galaxy-wide empire, and even when it is it's still fairly hard. I don't think you'll have much success recruiting anyone to your cause. You could, of course, try; but IMO you'd be wasting your time.

Hey! Nice to see you got my fountain ingame! Sorry about the blue-ness, though. I tried to make it white, but due to my limited knowledge of PE, a light blue was as far as I could go without making it black.

Hope the ducks turn out nice!

Heh heh. You seem optimistic :yes:

anyhoo, I'm sure you could find the right person, but I think he is right about one thing. You should at least learn the basics so it you can at least try it yourself or know what you are even talking about! :mrgreen:

Well, hunt mode itself is hardly original - it's included in stock maps.

Not really, if it's just plain old hunt mode with one side being ducks (natives). After you play enough maps, visuals just become visuals, nothing more; you begin to value gameplay over appearance. I'd rather see a whole new gamemode rather than a stock gamemode and a duck side. 'Course, that's just my opinion.

But with shotguns? I think this is original. Besides, when was the last time you saw earth animals in hunt mode? Never? Thought so. I can't wait to try the hunt mode!

I suppose the point I'm trying to make is that a new game mode is more original than an old, stock game mode that has new sides. If you honestly think that adding a shotgun to a game mode makes it original, well, that's your preference. As for Earth animals, it doesn't really matter - they could be Earth plants or Xach animals or even piles of rocks. In the end, all it would come down to would be two sides shooting each other, which is hardly original at all. Anything added on top, like the fact that one side just happens to be ducks, is just fluff.

@ Marth - it's quite all right to have something not be original; it could still be enjoyable if done right. There are several positive words I might use to describe your duck hunt - "original" is not one of them, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. If you really want to stress something original, I would recommend changing it, but again, you don't have to.
