This by now should be a gametoast hosted mod.

While it would make me feel good about myself and my work if it were, I don't blame the staff for not making it one, and in fact I agree with them. I have two maps from the series completed (three if you count Beachhead) out of an initially planned nine, now down to around seven maps. So I wouldn't really consider that enough progress to justify it being a hosted mod at this point. Of course, if any of the staff disagree with that, I won't argue. :P

How about some flanking objective, for example attack the droids with a small force from one side while the main force is holding their position.

For example something like that
X(capture this CP to flank the seps) ------------> X(main CIS base)
/\
|
|
----------------------------------------------------------- X(rep main force)

Or some sort of RC-style guerilla warfare or sniping actions?

You added a poll? Hmm... I think I'll pick the option for a big battle with vehicles, since the last Aldura map was a small to medium sized battle.

So I'm not quite sure what I want to do with conquest mode in the upcoming map. The two choices I'm trying to decide between are 1.) a large battle with many troops/vehicles and 2.) a small battle in which one side defends a base while the other side attacks and tries to capture the base from several surrounding positions.

Right now I'm leaning more towards option #2. I've done some work on creating the large battle, and while the map design supports it well, it still suffers from the typical flaws of those types of battles - lots of running and difficulty with AI planning, especially for vehicles. The option for a smaller battle would mean much less running, much easier AI planning, and would be a bit different from typical conquest gameplay.

I added a poll, so vote for whatever option you'd prefer. Keep in mind that this is for conquest only. I'm already decided on how campaign mode will be set up.

Im for a small battle since small battles are more action packed.

Looks great! Seems like there's going to be some aerial combat, seeing the vehicle behind the walker.

Why not make a small size map, with enough maneuvering room for large vehicles.

I choose the large battles, since the others were already small ones, and not any vehicles. We could it a medium size thou, like vehicles and troops attacking a army in the ruins and they have to use snipers to defend themselves.

Lol, I just realized that that was part of LotR. :D

Aldura: Doom

Story:

Several months after the initial landings of Republic troops, the planet is still locked in brutal warfare. Although the continent of Serena was seized from the CIS according to plan, the invasion of the other main continent has been unsuccessful. The first waves of ground troops were delayed in orbit, granting the Separatists sufficient time to establish a seemingly impenetrable defense of their major strongholds. Republic forces were routinely decimated in battles against the massive droid armies. Soon the Republic's holdings were limited to only scattered small towns. Now one of those towns has been attacked, and the surviving clone troopers flee across the desolated landscape in an attempt to escape the pursuing droids....

Game modes:

Campaign
Conquest
Uber/XL

The poll for game modes still has a week left, but the results are close enough that I've decided to just go ahead and add both since it really isn't that much extra work. Conquest mode will feature the gameplay of a smaller battle in which the Republic defends a base while the CIS attacks it from several sides. The Uber/XL mode will feature typical conquest gameplay in a large battle with several vehicles for each side.

It looks kinda flat and bland. Perhaps some rocks to spruce it up a bit?

The RTT is just a prop, and that prop is meant to be a hover vehicle, since that is how RTTs were originally portrayed.

Yes, that is the Republic skin for the speeder bike.

Most of the map is on a plain, so as a whole it is relatively flat, but there is more terrain variation than is evident in the screenshots. There are plenty of small dips and rises in the terrain and some blast craters scattered throughout the battlefield, which are good for both adding to the environment and providing a form of cover. If I can find some decent foliage, I'll be adding patches of it here-and-there.

Nice work there, Eggman. That first screen shot especially captures the dark, wet, and muddy feel very well. It looks like the trooper would just sink into the mud. :)

I love your map stories! They´re not ilogical and always sound exciting. I really wonder which force will keep Aldura. The CIS or the Republic? :D
But I guess it´ll be the Republic, because you always play as a clone.

Keep up the good work!

Maybe re-skin them, make them look muddy and battle-weary? They look way too clean for a group who has gotten their butts kicked.
