question: rep_weap_inf_rifle for imperial officer???

Post by Commander_Keller »

i wonder how i can give an imperial officer the dc-15 rifle. i want my imperial officer to carry the rep_weap_inf_rifle and the rep_weap_award_rifle. what do i have to do so everything works fine (also the sound)?

It's actually quite easy. Copy all the required files such as the .msh's, .odf's and the .tga's to your side file. Then in the area where the Imp Officer's weapons are defined add in the rep_weap_inf_rifle

I suggest you read the BF2 Jedi Creation doc first, it'll make your life a lot easier for ya.

(I also suggest copying the old Imp officer odf and renaming it so that you'll have a brand new file, so you wont mess up the Parent file.)

thanks for replying. of course i did read the jedi creation.
i copied all the msh files and tga files to my imp side and i changed the officer´s odf file. don´t i have to write a req somewhere?
my game crashed few seconds after spawning screen. i guess it´s when an a.i. officer spawns.
i don´t want to get on your nerves but could you tell me the names of the files i have to put into my imp side if you have the time? maybe i forgot one file... :?

thanks
keller

p.s. as far as i can see there have to be 8 files (msh´s and tga´s) that go into the imp/msh/pc folder and 4 odf´s that go into the odf folder, right?

p.p.s. alright now it works but i have no sound. where can i find that sound called "rep_weap_inf_rifle_fire"?

Search in your REP folder using the keyword "rifle" (without quote marks) and then copy over every file with rifle in your IMP folder (ofcourse you will need to place them in the MSH folder etc.) exept the SNIPERrifle files and the RIFLEMAN files, those have nothing to do with the DC-15A Blaster Rifle. Open up imp_inf_default_officer, or if you made a new default open that one. That default ODF should now look like this:

[GameObjectClass]
ClassParent = "imp_inf_default"

[Properties]
PointsToUnlock = 8

UnitType = "support"

AnimationName = "impofficer"

ScanningRange = 30.0
TransmitRange = 300.0

WEAPONSECTION = 1
WeaponName = "rep_weap_inf_rifle"
WeaponAmmo = 4

WEAPONSECTION = 2
WeaponName = "imp_weap_inf_mortar_launcher"
WeaponAmmo = 5

WEAPONSECTION = 3
WeaponName = "imp_weap_inf_buff_damage"
WeaponAmmo = 1
WeaponChannel = 1

WEAPONSECTION = 4
WeaponName = "imp_weap_inf_remotedroid"
WeaponAmmo = 1
WeaponChannel = 1

--The VO stuff is here below, but I think you can leave that out since (I think) it doesn't have any purpose.--

You won't need to set up any new req files if you modify the standard imp_inf_officer, but you will need to set-up new reqs when using the other officers in the IMP ODF folder. You must also not forget to put dc: markings in front of your SIDE\\imp.lvl line, that now should look like this: ReadDataFile("dc:SIDE\\imp.lvl", . I hope this will help you :D

in the lua before you load the sides ther will be something about loading sound. you simply need to have both a gcw and cw file loaded. As i don't have the tools can someone tell him the exact specs, thanks.

Open an imperial rifle odf, and then open your rep rifle odf. Copy the sound section (something like FireSound) from the imperial to the rep odf. That will make the DC-15 use imperial sounds so that it will work in GCW.
