...Just wanted to let you guys know that 3dgamers.com and fileplanet.com are offering a 10-day trial for Star Wars Galaxies and fileplanet.com is offer a 10-day trial (14 days if you are a subscriber) for World of Warcraft.

Yeah someone let me know how WOW is please. Ive heard 2 seperate opinions from everyone...its eigther childish and lame or people say its better then all MORPG combined.

I may try the demo for wow this evening..if i can clear some h/d space lol.

as for SWG, well me and nimlot and saturn played is for a few months, leveled up, it got boring for me, felt like i was wasting time. nimlot played for a little bit longer and I think saturn has died in the game...havent heard from him sense. It a fun game but all the zones are empty so you may as well be playingon your home pc with no MORPG lol.

ALso they just relaunched SWG game with all the classes removed , no more points to put in your class, you pick one and thats all you get , lame. Making custom things is next to impossible and in general there just aiming at younglings, new money and drag and drop gamers. It a fun game but not sure if its worth trying unless you want to use HOURS of your life and have NO ONE to show your game skills to cuz the game is EMPTY. lol

I used to be an avid SWG player, I've been all sorts, from a musician, tailor, doctor and teras kasi artist. Its fun if you hav freinds in the game, which is why I joined a PA before I even had the game!

It has taken a downturn with the NGE though... much less freedom, but a little more polish.

JTL is definately worth checking out, its no X-Wing Alliance, but is a jolly fun romp, and pretty tough too! Configuring you ships to how you want them is quite fun too, and costly. So you may have the fastest fighter, but would may want to have weaker sheilds and weapons that pack a punch, and so on.

It was fun, it lasted me 2 years, and I still log on every now and again.

Yeah maybe its better now but even with missions to kill rontos and being a master bounty hunter, i found little to hold my interest. It felt like...who cares what I achieve in this game since each and every zone only had 1 person in them most of the time. ME! lol
and forget about getting new items, no one crafted anything. there was maybe 1 guy making armor and he wanted the same amount for an entire space port to get 1 arm or head peice, rofl.

Interesting idea, maybe when the game re-re- fails after its new new, release of the same thing with more rules they will lower the price to like 5 bucks. then ill play.

So I played the Galaxies trial. It's essentially "KoTOR online w/XWA influences". Not worth 15 bucks a month. Then again, I really can't see paying monthly for a game I already paid for.

Aye, the fact that I've put 2 years worth of money in that game kinda eats away at me, but I suppose its only the cost of a night out on the town each month... depending on where you drink of course

I have to say I much prefer offline games though, many people in Galaxies were real jerks sometimes, completely ruined any immersion, my guild was the only thing keeping me in game, such a great bunch of people. I do prefer KOTOR to Galaxies, and XWA... but I suppose its cool to have a game where you can almost do anything without the confines you experiance in games like KOTOR and XWA (i.e. restricted freedom on maps, set storyline, little/no crafting and hobby professions).

With the NGE hats just been incorprated, rumoured to be setting the game up for consoles, many people have mixed feelings. Restricted classes are a real downer, have reflex in combat is also a very difficult change (apart from in space), although gaining a second character is quite cool.

For those who can't get the files from the links Teancum has posted, they can download those "trial versions" from FileShack, also...
Regarding the Star Wars Galaxies demo, I'm wondering whether the add-ons released for that game are included in it... (Such as "Rage of the Wookiees", "Trials of Obi-Wan", etc...) Or can you only play to the original title ?

I would assume only the original title, and probabaly JTL, since they are giving everyone that. ROTW and TOOW you have to purchase... Rage of the Wookiees was okay, it had a lot of fun missions, although the planet was basically a bloody themepark with restricted movement, I'm inclined to say that KOTOR's Kashyyyk was better visually and as an environment, and closer to lore, despite being about a tenth the size. I pretty much quit before they did Mustafar with TOOW, so I never bought that.

WoW ROCKS! I own the game, and its so much better. I wasnt really interested in Galaxies(own it too) as i am with WoW. But Galaxies is pretty fun, but i just find WoW to be excellent.

Having seen LOADS of adverts for WoW demo on Xfire website, i clicked on it and it says north american trial only. So thats BAD for everyone else.

No, that Galaxies trial just has you stuck on some space station. If I might say so, it's really gay -- the worlds were the thing I wanted to see the very most. Guess I'm not buying it.

Onc you finish it you're dumped on a planet, usually tatooine. Yes Mos Eisley, Taike, Espa, Entha, are still around

oh so its like everquest then. Your in a noob station until you learn how to exit and begin the real game....makes sense.. its not fun to play a game where 500 people are running through eisley using /shout ''help how to i use the "blablabla"''. someone give me credits , rofl.

Personnally, I think they should have made SWG single player like the Morrowind seires (but that's just me, I love Morrowind) and given connections to the internet for multiplayer so that after a person ends the "training" part, they can then get on the net or stay in a single player world. Granted it gets lonely in single player Morrowind.

morrowind was very intertesting , a fun game but it took me like 2 years to get beyond peon stage, where everything killed me with 1 hit. If you take anything but a massive warrior you get raped in morrowind, lol , unless you use the cheats we all have used. SWG would be real slow in SP. Missions would not be as fun too but maybe if they made a nice AI like the hire-able npc for quests in guild wars, that would own!

so yeah i played the trail for swg and love the new nge changes. Its more like a FPS which actually makes it less boring, lol. GOod to see SaturnV is still rocking too. Anyone playing on the Ahazi server? I could have lots of work for you farming stuff and trading resources.
