I signed... Although I am curious, does this mean the pc version is a port? If so, why is it a higher priced PC game? ($60 vs. $40-50) Or is that just a supply and demand scenario working there?Dohnutt wrote:You're right... Re: Modern Warfare 2
It's supply and demand and the fact that it's a successful franchise that was going to sell extremely well on the pc til now. Also Activision's CEO is a greedy jerk.

Re: Modern Warfare 2
I play CoD games on the 360 cuz its better with Xbox Live so the multiplayer is AWSOME and ADDICTING! CoD WaW was terrible though. they didnt even make a new engine. CoD4 is best so far. This looks 20x better thoughlesovikk1 wrote:well iv signed it. and same i havent sen one with so many. they wont do anything tho. 3weeks till launch. they aint going to change it in that time. im still going to get the game tho..for the campagin

Re: Modern Warfare 2
They didn't need to make a new engine for CoDWaW. It was the CoD4 engine which at the time one of the best.
Matchmaking works on consoles. I don't mind it on consoles. It does get annoying at times. But dedicated servers and browsers and mods are just standard and needed for a pc game.
I remember a time when patches were free and added to the game and the devs cared.
Still think Bobby (CEO of Activision) made IW do this. He's a jerk.

Yeah, like this basically destroys all clan-ruled servers, mods, etc.
I'm so disappointed.

This is from a Dev chat on the PC version.
The comments are from my friend. Anyways, this game is 110% dead to me. I will not buy it ever.
EDIT: Also enjoy your 9v9 cap. http://kotaku.com/5397149/modern-warfar ... ped-at-9v9

Wow, I'm very disappointed in this.
At least they can't really ruin single player.

That trailer looked EXTREMELY good. Not a fan of Eminem though... Anyway, that chat was ridiculous.
I'm getting the PS3 version of the game, but I can't say I saw this coming. That 18p limit bites.
EDIT:
Worst. Decision. Ever. Of all time.

Re: Modern Warfare 2
The only thing that has really surprised me was that they took out leaning, which simply cements my decision not to buy it. It sounds like an insignificant feature on the surface, but it's a really handy thing to have, especially in MP. I don't mind if lean isn't there to begin with, though I prefer some method of looking around without having to stick my whole body out, but once it's included I don't like having it removed in the sequel. It appears IW/Activision didn't learn from what happened with Soldier of Fortune: Payback. Cauldron HQ/Activision Value did a similar thing in that dedicated servers were removed, lean was removed, but they made a graphically pretty game. In the end, it was not very popular with the people that played previous game, and people spoke up, though noone really listened. I'm not going to make the mistake of buying this. Having a copy of SoF:P is embarassing enough.

Re: Modern Warfare 2
I'm not totally sure what 'lean' is. I haven't had xbox live yet but I still have COD4 on the 360. How do you 'lean'? I've seen the AI do it anyway. I know that you guys are upset about the loss, but I see their argument -- sometimes sacrificing a feature ends up dealing a greater good to the gameplay. Not that I'm saying it necessarily will in this particular case, but the rhetoric at least is valid.
I heard about the nuke thing. Basically its an automatic win for the team that gets it. But I don't think it'll be too much trouble because I can't imagine that it will be all that easy to get a 25 kill streak. If, for whatever reason, someone does manage to get a 25 kill streak, you can make a good bet that his team is going to route the other team, so its essentially just ending the match early in favor of a team that you already know is going to win.
9v9 on multiplayer? It might not be all that bad depending exactly on how large the maps are. But that's just for PC. Does anyone know what it will be for the consoles?
And yeah, nice video. I really like it, especially the American suburbs fight. Its kind of a stark contrast between the ultra-protective suburban setting and an open war environment. The space thing might be taking it a bit too far though.

I think its when you peak out from behind cover? Similar to what Killzone 2 has.trainmaster611 wrote:I'm not totally sure what 'lean' is. I haven't had xbox live yet but I still have COD4 on the 360. How do you 'lean'?
I think what everyone is concerned about is hackers getting that many kills and getting the nuke.trainmaster611 wrote:I heard about the nuke thing. Its the same for consoles.trainmaster611 wrote:9v9 on multiplayer? It might not be all that bad depending exactly on how large the maps are. But that's just for PC. Does anyone know what it will be for the consoles?
Agreed on space. I don't know how they're even going to wrap that into the story (maybe it will be one of those "sit back and watch a cutscene" missions, like "The Coup" and "Aftermath" in CoD4.trainmaster611 wrote:And yeah, nice video. Ok, so Activision doesn't care one bit.

Like, I'm seriously thinking of never buying another Activision published game. Ever.
I'm so canceling my preorder tomorrow and preordering Battlefield Bad Company 2.

Re: Modern Warfare 2
It's quite obvious they really only focused on working this for the XBox 360.
