MSH file exporting?
Is there a way to Export (think thats the right terminology) weapons, and Player Models in Blender, without haveing to Pay for XSI?
Would realy make my life easier, cause every time I finish a Model, I hav to ask someone to do it for me, and I realy would like to be able to do It myself.

You don't have to pay for the XSI Modtools - you can get a free version and Andeweget has just released an export script which allows users of the free version to export weapons/players/vehicles...Look in the modelling forum FAQ for more details...

I'm requesting that someone tell me the name of this script or give me a link, I've been wanting to model again ever since my trial ran out.

Re: All-Purpose Request Thread (Mk. IV)
Softimage/XSI Mod Tool less advanced and is used by high schoolers in their basements (joking,
) whereas Softimage 2012/3ds Max/Maya/Mudbox is used by top-level industries such as LucasArts, BioWare, etc. Softimage 2012 also has more features and support and the like, which is why it's normally several hundred dollars to purchase a normal user license for.

For modding, Softimage Mod Tool is all you're going to need. If you want to get into CGI and stuff like that, Softimage 2012 would be a better idea.

Yes, but if you can easily and legally obtain a license for a product that is normally $2,995.00 MSRP, why not get that instead? One could learn how to create *animated movies aside from modding as well! Also, "CGI" stands for "computer-generated image", so technically, almost anything done inside a 3d modeling program would be considered "CGI".

ANDEWEGET's XSI ZETools is here.
It says you also need python 2.4, but he recomends getting 2.6 for the latest version of ZETools.

So ANDEWEGET's XSI ZETools, do they work with the Soft Image Mod tools, the Normal Soft Image program, or Both?
Are they necesary if you have the Full Program?

Re: All-Purpose Request Thread (Mk. IV)
You can only use the Pandemic Tools with XSI 5.11 and below, which excludes the Softimage Mod Tool programs. However, if you do possess XSI 5.11 or below, you could use ANDEWEGET's tool for templates such as unit templates or vehicle templates.Slime615 wrote:So If I can Use the Pandamic Addon, what advantages would I get for useing His tools?

So does the Pandemic Tools work for the 2012 Sofimage? Or only for previous versions?

Only XSI 5.1 and 5.11 (and one or two previous 4.0 versions) work with the official XSI Pandemic Tools. ANDEWEGET's ZE (Zero Engine) Tools do a lot of the stuff the Pandemic Tools can do, like making props and weapons for SWBF2. Vehicles (without bones) as well. Unit models don't work yet, but I'm sure he'll get it done eventually. As you'd want to start with props and weapon models, I highly recommend starting with it.Marth8880 wrote:You can only use the Pandemic Tools with XSI 5.11 and below, which excludes the Softimage Mod Tool programs. Precisely. Also, Slime, keep in mind that the Pandemic Tools support polygon-specific material flags, meaning you can give specific polygons material flags such as glow or transparency, whereas ANDE's tool only supports object-specific material flags.THEWULFMAN wrote:Slime615 wrote:So does the Pandemic Tools work for the 2012 Sofimage? Re: All-Purpose Request Thread (Mk. IV)
So I now have the new 2012 version of XSI (Full, not the Mod tools, or Trial). Does that mean I cant export .msh without ANDEWEGET's tool, because the Pandemic tools don't work with the New version. Am I Right?
Or can I export .msh another way?

Re: All-Purpose Request Thread (Mk. IV)
You can export .msh files either the stinky way which is via MshEx, or the cool-kids' way which is via ANDE's XSI/ZE Tools.

Re: All-Purpose Request Thread (Mk. IV)
Hey now. I'm excited for ZE Tools and everything, but atm, mshex is easy, stable, and proven, and is good enough for props and weapons. For complex stuff like units, anims, and vehicles, afaik the best way is still to ask someone with a working pandemic tools to help export.
